Associations between eGFR and albuminuria with right ventricular measures: the MESA-Right Ventricle study
CONCLUSIONS: Among community-dwelling adults, reductions in eGFR primarily within the normal range were associated with smaller RV volumes and the association of albuminuria with worse survival was stronger among those with smaller RV volumes. Further studies are needed to elucidate the underlying mechanistic pathways that link kidney measures and RV morphology.PMID:37664568 | PMC:PMC10469092 | DOI:10.1093/ckj/sfad096

Causal associations between type 1 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases: a Mendelian randomization study
CONCLUSION: This MR study provided evidence supporting the causal effect of T1DM on peripheral atherosclerosis and coronary atherosclerosis, with hypertension partly mediating this effect.PMID:37659996 | PMC:PMC10475187 | DOI:10.1186/s12933-023-01974-6

Mid-life Vascular Risk and Rate of Physical Function Decline among Older Adults: The Atherosclerosis Risk In Communities (ARIC) Study
CONCLUSIONS: Mid-life control of blood pressure and diabetes may offset aging-related functional decline.PMID:37659100 | DOI:10.1093/gerona/glad210

Short-term cardiovascular events after bariatric surgery in patients with metabolic syndrome
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with MetS have an increased frequency of cardiac events following bariatric surgery. Future studies should determine if optimization of 1 or more components of MetS or other related co-morbidities reduces the cardiovascular risk for patients.PMID:37659898 | DOI:10.1016/j.soard.2023.07.009

Prevalence of hs-CRP among Indians with hypertension
Bioinformation. 2022 Oct 31;18(10):1041-1043. doi: 10.6026/973206300181041. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTThe prevalence of hypertension in the early twentieth century varied in India, ranging from 2-15% in Urban India and 2-8% in Rural India. In the inter heart and inter stroke study, hypertension accounted for 17.9% and 34.6% of population attributable risk for coronary artery disease and stroke respectively. CRP appears in serum in response to a variety of inflammatory stimuli .Raised level of hs-CRP is seen with increasing with age, during an infection, inflammation, coronary artery diseases, obesity, sepsis, smoking and va...
