Correlation between Immune-Inflammatory Markers and Clinical Features in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Immune-inflammatory markers dynamically increased from symptom onset of acute ischemic stroke in patients eligible for thrombolytic therapy. Higher levels of immune-inflammatory markers suggest more in-hospital complications and unfavorable short-term outcomes.PMID:34018169

Long-Term Use of Statins Lowering the Risk of Rehospitalization Caused by Ischemic Stroke Among Middle-Aged Hyperlipidemic Patients: A Population-Based Study
Conclusion: Statins were associated with long-term secondary prevention of reHospIS for hyperlipidemic patients. Rosuvastatin seemed to have the best protective effects. On the other hand, Bezafibrate appears to be beneficial for hyperlipidemic patients developing diabetes. Further research into the combination treatment of statin and nonstatin lipid-lowering medicines in hyperlipidemic patients developing diabetes is warranted.

Transient Postictal Hyperglycemia as a Diagnostic Clue of Mitochondrial Encephalomyopathy, Lactic Acidosis, and Stroke-like Episodes
CONCLUSION: Seizure-induced stress hyperglycemia is uncommon in normal individuals, but such kind of energy crisis may be pronounced in patients with mitochondrial dysfunction. Early diagnosis of mitochondrial diseases-related epilepsy and hyperglycemia is crucial since certain antiepileptic drugs (ex. Valproic acid) and antihyperglycemic agents (ex. Metformin) are contraindicated in patients with mitochondrial diseases. Our findings support that transient postictal hyperglycemia may be a red flag to consider the diagnosis of MELAS.PMID:35266136
