Causal associations between type 1 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases: a Mendelian randomization study
CONCLUSION: This MR study provided evidence supporting the causal effect of T1DM on peripheral atherosclerosis and coronary atherosclerosis, with hypertension partly mediating this effect.PMID:37659996 | PMC:PMC10475187 | DOI:10.1186/s12933-023-01974-6

Comparison of serum lipoprotein(a) levels in young and middle-aged patients presenting for the first time with ST-elevation myocardial infarction: a single-centre study
CONCLUSION: Lp(a) level was found to be a higher and a possible independent risk factor in young patients who presented with STEMI for the first time, compared to the middle-aged patient group. Lp(a) is a highly atherogenic molecule and it has been associated with stroke, heart failure, aortic stenosis, as well as coronary artery disease. Measurement of Lp(a) levels may be recommended in young patients with high cardiovascular risk.PMID:37656600 | DOI:10.5830/CVJA-2023-038

Early Aortic Valve Replacement in Symptomatic Normal-Flow, Low-Gradient Severe Aortic Stenosis: A Propensity Score-Matched Retrospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: An early AVR strategy may be beneficial in reducing the risk of a composite outcome of death or hospitalization for HF in symptomatic patients with NFLG severe AS. Future randomized studies are required to validate and confirm our findings.PMID:37653715 | DOI:10.4070/kcj.2023.0022

Impact of Patient and Procedural Factors on Outcomes Following Mesenteric Bypass
DISCUSSION: Mesenteric bypass for mesenteric ischemia leads to high rates of morbidity and mortality, whether done in an acute or chronic setting. Preoperative sepsis, independent of AMI or CMI, predicts CV morbidity, regardless of bypass configuration or conduit, while elevated INR or underlying CHF carries a higher risk of pulmonary morbidity.PMID:37655480 | DOI:10.1177/00031348231198118
