Inaccurate recognition of own comorbidities is associated with poor prognosis in elderly patients with heart failure
ConclusionsThe ability to recognize their own comorbidities among older patients with heart failure was low. Patients with less accurate recognition of their comorbidities may be at higher risk for a composite of all-cause mortality or heart failure rehospitalization.

Temporal trends in incidence, prevalence, and death of aortic stenosis in Korea: a nationwide population ‐based study
ConclusionsThe proportion of AS at age ≥60 years was 80%. For AS, the age-standardized incidence rates were steady, prevalence rates increased, and death rates decreased by year over a decade. The 10 year SR of AS was about 50%. The most common cause of death in AS was disease of the circulatory system. Given the progressively higher incidence of AS with age continued efforts are required to increase awareness regarding AS-related symptoms and potential complications in aged people.

Incidence and impact of atrial fibrillation in heart failure patients: real ‐world data in a large community
ConclusionsAF is associated with an increment in the risk of episodes of acute heart failure as well as decline of renal function and increment of all-cause mortality.

Elevated plasma WIF ‐1 levels are associated with worse prognosis in heart failure with pulmonary hypertension
ConclusionsThe present study demonstrated that LHF-PH patients have higher plasma WIF-1 levels than healthy controls, suggesting that plasma WIF-1 may be a potential future prognostic biomarker in LHF-PH. Its prognostic capability could be further refined by including it in a multi-marker panel. Further studies are needed to establish the potential role of WIF-1 in LHF-PH pathophysiology in larger cohorts to determine its clinical applicability.

P ‐wave durations from automated electrocardiogram analysis to predict atrial fibrillation and mortality in heart failure
ConclusionsExtreme values of maximum P-wave durations ( ≤90 ms and ≥141 ms) were significant predictors of new-onset AF, cardiovascular mortality, and all-cause mortality.

Identifying patients at risk: multi ‐centre comparison of HeartMate 3 and HeartWare left ventricular assist devices
ConclusionsHM3 patients have a significantly better survival and a lower incidence of ischaemic strokes and pump thrombosis than HVAD patients. This survival difference persisted after 2  years of implantation. Additional research using post-operative variables is warranted to identify which HVAD patients need an upgrade to HM3 or expedited transplantation.

Long ‐term outcomes in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: Predictors of cardiac and non‐cardiac mortality
ConclusionsIn patients with acute decompensated HFpEF, over 5  years of follow-up, nearly of patients died, half from CV and the other half from non-CV causes. CAD and tricuspid regurgitation were associated with CV death. Stroke, kidney disease, lower BMI, and lower sodium were associated with non-CV death. Anaemia and higher age were associated with both ou tcomes.

GDF ‐15 at admission predicts cardiovascular death, heart failure, and bleeding outcomes in patients with CAD
ConclusionsIn patients with CAD, admission levels of GDF-15 were associated with an increased 1  year risk of CV death, HF, and bleeding outcomes, but not with thrombotic events. GDF-15 may be a prognostic biomarker for CV death, HF, and bleeding outcomes and could be used to refine the risk assessment of these specific clinical outcomes.Trial Registration:ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT04044066

Night‐time electromechanical activation time, pulsatile hemodynamics, and discharge outcomes in patients with acute heart failure
ConclusionPre‐discharge night‐time EMAT may be a better predictor for post‐discharge adverse events than the measures of the pulsatile hemodynamics in patients with AHFS.

Heterogeneous responses of systolic and diastolic left ventricular function to exercise in patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction
ConclusionThree‐dimensional stress echocardiography may allow non‐invasive analysis of changes in cardiac output that can differentiate HFpEF patients with an inappropriate increase or a fall in SV during exercise. Impaired systolic or diastolic reserve can contribute to these haemodynamic abnormalities, which may arise from different underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms.

Initial 3‐year outcomes with left ventricular assist devices in a country with a nascent heart transplantation program
ConclusionsLVADs are an important therapeutic alternative to heart transplantation in the context of a developing heart transplant programme with outcomes that are comparable to those reported by other centres.

Age‐ and sex‐related differences in diastolic function and cardiac dimensions in a hypertensive population
ConclusionsImpairment of diastolic function relative to arterial elasticity, EdI/EaI, occurred in elderly hypertensive women and was coincident with the alteration of cardiac dimensions. The coincidence with the changes in diastolic function and the alterations of cardiac dimensions occurred in a different time point between the sexes.
