Heart transplantation strategies in arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy: a tertiary ARVC centre experience
ConclusionsHeart transplantation is a curative treatment for ARVC, but due to frequent ventricular arrhythmias and RV predominant pathology, patients require unique considerations in regard to timing of evaluation, haemodynamic support options, and wait listing qualification.

Feasibility of the contraction –relaxation coupling index in outcome prediction for patients with acute heart failure
ConclusionsCRC provides an independent value for outcome prediction in patients with acute HF. CRC would be a sensitive indicator for prognostic risk stratification and for predicting treatment response to the neurohormonal blockade.

Clinical features and predictors of atrial fibrillation in patients with light ‐chain or transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis
ConclusionsAtrial fibrillation affects nearly half of all patients with CA. Patients presenting with AF have more severe symptoms and higher burden of comorbidities. ATTR type of amyloidosis is the strongest predictor of AF. Prospective screening for occult AF may be considered in ATTR-CA.

A comparison of drug ‐eluting stent and coronary artery bypass grafting in mildly to moderately ischemic heart failure
ConclusionsConsidering the higher long-term survival rate and lower repeat-revascularization rate, CABG may be superior to DES implantation in patients with mildly to moderately reduced EF (35 –50%) and significant CAD.

Relation of left atrial overload indices with prognostic endpoints in heart failure and preserved ejection fraction
ConclusionsThe index of LA overload for prognosis may differ according to the different endpoints in elderly patients with HFpEF.

Non ‐invasive evaluation of new‐onset atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery: a protocol for the BigMap study
ConclusionsThis is the largest prospective study to date describing the electrophysiological mechanisms of NOAF using non-invasive mapping.

Comparing short ‐term/long‐term outcomes of heart transplants that occur inside and outside of normal working hours
ConclusionThere was no significant difference in clinical outcomes between heart transplants taking place inside or outside of working hours. A high quality of care can be provided for heart transplant patients even during after hours.

Multimorbidity, guideline ‐directed medical therapies, and associated outcomes among hospitalized heart failure patients
ConclusionsComorbidity clusters were prevalent and associated with poorer outcomes. GDMT remained beneficial regardless of the comorbidity burden but tended to weaken with increasing comorbidity burden. Further research is required to optimize medical care in these patients.

Ca2+/calmodulin ‐dependent protein kinase II and protein kinase G oxidation contributes to impaired sarcomeric proteins in hypertrophy model
ConclusionsOur findings showed VO-induced cardiomyocyte dysfunction via deranged phosphorylation of myofilament proteins and signalling pathways due to increased oxidative state of CaMKII and PKG and this might contribute to the development of hypertrophy.

Relationship of diabetes, heart failure, and N ‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide with cardiovascular outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation
ConclusionsDiabetes and HF were independently associated with an increased risk of CV death/HHF in an unselected AF patient population, and NT-proBNP improved risk assessment. These findings suggest that AF patients with diabetes and/or HF should be managed not only for their risk of stroke and systemic embolic events but also for CV death/HHF.

Recombinant human brain natriuretic peptide ameliorates venous return function in congestive heart failure
Conclusionsrh-BNP might ameliorate venous return rather than cardiac output function in post-cardiotomy CHF patients.

Very long ‐term prognosis in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: a longitudinal study with a period of 20 years
ConclusionsIn our cohort of patients, HCM-related mortality was relatively favourable. However, approximately half of the patients suffered from HCM-related adverse events during the follow-up period of 20  years. It is important for HCM patients to be carefully followed up over the long-term because HCM is a lifelong disease.

Impact of SARS ‐Cov‐2 infection in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: results of an international multicentre registry
ConclusionsOver one-fourth of HCM patients infected with SARS-Cov-2 required hospitalization, including 6% in an ICU setting. Age and cardiac features related to HCM, including baseline functional class, left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, and systolic impairment, conveyed increased risk of mortality.

Cystatin C in risk prediction after transcatheter aortic valve replacement: a retrospective analysis
ConclusionsThe CKDCys classification could better assess the risk than the CKDCr classification in patients undergoing TAVR. CKDCys stage 3b and stage 4  + 5 correlated with adverse outcomes.

Impaired renal function and mortalities in acute heart failure with different phenotypes
ConclusionsOn-admission IRF was independently predictive of long-term mortality in patients hospitalized for HF, irrespective of HF phenotypes. Furthermore, IRF was also associated with short-term mortality in HFrEF and HFmrEF, but not in HFpEF.
