Gene therapy of adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors in preclinical models of ischemic stroke
CNS Neurosci Ther. 2023 Aug 8. doi: 10.1111/cns.14392. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTStroke has been associated with devastating clinical outcomes, with current treatment strategies proving largely ineffective. Therefore, there is a need to explore alternative treatment options for addressing post-stroke functional deficits. Gene therapy utilizing adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) as a critical gene vector delivering genes to the central nervous system (CNS) gene delivery has emerged as a promising approach for treating various CNS diseases. This review aims to provide an overview of the biological characteristics of AAV vec...

SerpinA3N attenuates ischemic stroke injury by reducing apoptosis and neuroinflammation
CONCLUSIONS: SerpinA3N is expressed in astrocytes and penumbra neurons after stroke in mice. It reduces brain damage possibly via interacting with clusterin and inhibiting neuronal apoptosis and neuroinflammation.PMID:34897996 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13776

Morinda officinalis oligosaccharides alleviate depressive-like behaviors in post-stroke rats via suppressing NLRP3 inflammasome to inhibit hippocampal inflammation
CONCLUSION: Overall, our study reveals the antidepressive effect of MOOs on PSD rats through modulation of microglial NLRP3 inflammasome. We also provide a novel insight into hippocampal inflammation response in PSD pathology and put forward NLRP3 inflammasome as a potential therapeutic target for PSD.PMID:34559953 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13732

Overexpression of Adiponectin Improves Neurobehavioral Outcomes After Focal Cerebral Ischemia in Aged Mice.
CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrate that APN overexpression reduces ischemic brain injury and improves neurobehavioral function recovery in aged mice than in young mice, suggesting APN is more beneficial in aged animals after ischemic stroke. PMID: 24164711 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
