Current status of drug repositioning in hematology
Expert Rev Hematol. 2021 Oct 16. doi: 10.1080/17474086.2021.1995348. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Drug repositioning (DR) is defined as determining new therapeutic applications for existing drugs. This approach is advantageous over de novo drug discovery in accelerating clinical development, in terms of lower costs, a shortened development period, a well-known action mechanism, a feasible dosage, and an acceptable safety profile.AREAS COVERED: This work was aimed at reviewing agents with successful DR in hematology.EXPERT OPINION: Thalidomide and plerixafor have been successfully repositioned for treating mu...

Geniposide Alleviates Glucocorticoid-Induced Inhibition of Osteogenic Differentiation in MC3T3-E1 Cells by ERK Pathway
Conclusion In summary, we demonstrated that geniposide alleviated GC-induced osteogenic suppression in MC3T3-E1 cells. The effects of geniposide were at least partially associated with activating ERK signaling pathway via GLP-1 receptor. Geniposide might be a potential therapeutic agent for protection against GC-induced osteoporosis. Author Contributions BX, DX, CZ, and LW participated in research design. BX, JW, YL, XW, and ZZ conducted the experiments. BX, DX, and LW contributed new reagents or analytic tools and wrote or contributed to the writing of the manuscript. BX, JW, CZ, and DX performed the data analysis. Fu...

Botany, traditional use, phytochemistry, pharmacology, quality control, and authentication of Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae-A traditional medicine: A review
Conclusions: Although the identification of compounds from Qinjiao and demonstration of medicinal uses in vitro and in vivo have been carried out, various other studies on these plants should deserve our more attention. More efforts should be concentrated on the underlying mechanisms of their beneficial bioactivities. The proper toxic evaluation is indispensable to guarantee the safety, efficacy, and eligibility for medical use. To sum up, the summarized achievements could highlight the importance of Qinjiao and provide a solid foundation for scientists not only to further exploit the therapeutic potentials, but also possi...
