FIND Stroke Recovery Study (FIND): rationale and protocol for a longitudinal observational cohort study of trajectories of recovery and biomarkers poststroke
Introduction Comprehensive studies mapping domain-specific trajectories of recovery after stroke and biomarkers reflecting these processes are scarce. We, therefore, initiated an exploratory prospective observational study of stroke cases with repeated evaluation, the FIND Stroke Recovery Study. Association of the COVID-19 pandemic on stroke admissions and treatment globally: a systematic review
Conclusions During the COVID-19 pandemic, many populations hesitated to seek medical attention, decreasing hospital admissions for less severe strokes and increasing hospitalisation of more severe cases and mortality. The effect of the pandemic on society and healthcare systems needs to be addressed to improve stroke treatment pathways and prepare for potential future epidemics. Colchicine and high-intensity rosuvastatin in the treatment of non-critically ill patients hospitalised with COVID-19: a randomised clinical trial
Conclusions In this small, open-label, randomised trial of non-critically ill hospitalised patients with COVID-19, the combination of colchicine and rosuvastatin in addition to standard of care did not appear to reduce the risk of progression of COVID-19 disease or thromboembolic events, although the trial was underpowered due to a lower-than-expected event rate. The trial leveraged the power of electronic medical records for efficiency and improved follow-up and demonstrates the utility of incorporating electronic medical records into future trials. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the provision of endovascular thrombectomy for stroke: an Irish perspective
ConclusionsDespite the myriad of challenges presented by the pandemic, service provision at the primary Irish ESC, and the referring hospitals, has proven to be robust. Procedural time metrics were maintained whilst the expected reduction in number of EVTs performed did not materialise, there actually being a significant increase in number of EVTs performed in the pandemic ’s second year.

In Reply We thank Dr Chu and colleagues for their comments about our Research Letter. Our analysis found that 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were associated with a reduced risk of AMI and ischemic stroke after COVID-19, using inverse probability treatment weighting to mitigate the imbalance in patient characteristics by vaccination status.

We sought to assess whether the risk of arterial and venous thromboembolism among patients hospitalized with COVID-19 differed from those hospitalized with another respiratory viral infection. Emergency department presentations during the COVID-19 pandemic in Queensland (to June 2021): interrupted time series analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The COVID-19 pandemic and related public restrictions were associated with profound changes in health care use. Hyperhomocysteinemia is related to large vessel occlusion in young patients with COVID ‐19: Two case reports
This report describes two adults with acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion after COVID-19 infection. The COVID-19 related hypercoagulable state may exacerbated the underlying thrombophilia due to MTHFR gene. AbstractHere, we report two cases of previously healthy young men with COVID-19 infection who developed acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion followed by secondary events concerning for a further thromboembolic event. We hypothesize that the hypercoagulable state related to COVID-19 exacerbated the underlying hereditary thrombophilia.
