Recent advances and perspectives of postoperative neurological disorders in the elderly surgical patients
CNS Neurosci Ther. 2021 Dec 3. doi: 10.1111/cns.13763. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPostoperative neurological disorders, including postoperative delirium (POD), postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD), postoperative covert ischemic stroke, and hemorrhagic stroke, are challenging clinical problems in the emerging aged surgical population. These disorders can deteriorate functional outcomes and long-term quality of life after surgery, resulting in a substantial social and financial burden to the family and society. Understanding predisposing and precipitating factors may promote individualized preventive treatment for e...

Does variability in automated perfusion software outputs for acute ischemic stroke matter? Reanalysis of EXTEND perfusion imaging
CONCLUSIONS: These data reinforce the benefit of alteplase in the later time window, and suggest that differences in automated perfusion imaging software outputs may be clinically relevant.PMID:34786868 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13756

Predictive value of different bilirubin subtypes for clinical outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke receiving thrombolysis therapy
CONCLUSION: Increased DBIL pre-thrombolysis had a stronger association with, as well as greater incremental predictive value for, poor outcomes than TBIL and IBIL did in AIS patients after thrombolysis, which should be understood in the context of retrospective design. The effect of DBIL on targeted populations should be investigated in further researches.PMID:34779141 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13759

Effect of Ginkgolide in Ischemic Stroke patients with large Artery Atherosclerosis: Results from a randomized trial
CONCLUSIONS: Ginkgolide, working as PAF antagonist, may reduce recurrent stroke in AIS with ICAS patients within 72 hours after onset. It might be an optional treatment in moderate-to-severe AIS patients with ICAS. (http://www.chictr.org.cn Number as ChiCTR-IPR-17012310).PMID:34676982 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13742

Imperatorin inhibits mitogen-activated protein kinase and nuclear factor kappa-B signaling pathways and alleviates neuroinflammation in ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Imperatorin downregulated MAPK and NF-κB signaling pathways and exerted anti-inflammatory effects in ischemic stroke, which indicated that imperatorin might be a potential compound for the treatment of stroke.PMID:34674376 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13748

Alterations in the gut microbiome with hemorrhagic transformation in experimental stroke
CONCLUSION: This study provides important information about the gut microbiota profiles and SCFA levels of MCAO rats with HT or non-HT. The susceptibility to HT in MCAO rats is associated with inflammation and gut microbiota modulation.PMID:34591349 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13736

Morinda officinalis oligosaccharides alleviate depressive-like behaviors in post-stroke rats via suppressing NLRP3 inflammasome to inhibit hippocampal inflammation
CONCLUSION: Overall, our study reveals the antidepressive effect of MOOs on PSD rats through modulation of microglial NLRP3 inflammasome. We also provide a novel insight into hippocampal inflammation response in PSD pathology and put forward NLRP3 inflammasome as a potential therapeutic target for PSD.PMID:34559953 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13732

Identification of embolic stroke in patients with large vessel occlusion: The Chinese embolic stroke score, CHESS
CONCLUSION: CHESS could reliably and independently identify embolic stroke as the cause of large vessel occlusion.PMID:34559949 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13729
