Effect of Age on Efficacy and Safety of Vorapaxar in Patients with Non–ST-Segment Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome: Insights from the TRACER Trial
Conclusion Older patients had a greater risk for ischemic and bleeding events; however, the efficacy and safety of vorapaxar in NSTE ACS were not significantly influenced by age.

Impact of glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors on the efficacy and safety of ticagrelor compared with clopidogrel in patients with acute coronary syndromes: Analysis from the Platelet Inhibition and Patient Outcomes (PLATO) Trial
Conclusions In patients with acute coronary syndrome undergoing early PCI, the efficacy and safety of ticagrelor as compared with clopidogrel were not modified by GPI use according to the primary efficacy and safety end point of the trial, although there were indications of greater benefit on definite stent thrombosis and more major or minor bleeding with ticagrelor in patients without (vs with) GPI treatment.

Blood Pressure Control and Stroke or Bleeding Risk in Anticoagulated Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: Results from the ROCKET AF Trial
Conclusions In a trial of anticoagulated patients with AF, increasing screening SBP was independently associated with stroke and SE, and one-third of patients had uncontrolled hypertension. The relative effectiveness and safety of rivaroxaban versus warfarin was consistent across all levels of screening SBP. A single SBP may be an important factor in reducing the overall risk of stroke and SE in anticoagulated patients with AF.

Conclusions The risk of cardiovascular outcomes and mortality among individuals with AF without comorbidities is lower than typical AF, but is significantly elevated compared with matched individuals without AF.

Comparison of Risk Scores for the Prediction of Stroke in African Americans: Findings from the Jackson Heart Study
Conclusions Both scores were associated with incident stroke in a dose–response fashion; however, the CVD risk model was more discriminating than the CVH model. The CVH score may still be preferable for its simplicity in application to broad patient populations and public health efforts.

A clustered randomized trial to IMProve treatment with AntiCoagulanTs in patients with Atrial Fibrillation (IMPACT AF): design and rationale
The objective of this prospective, cluster randomized controlled trial (IMPACT-AF; ClinicalTrials.gov #NCT02082548) is to determine whether a comprehensive customized intervention will increase the rate and persistence of use of OAC in patients with AF.
