Usefulness of one-arm motorized gait device for chronic hemiplegic stroke survivors
CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that one-arm motorized gait devices developed for hemiplegic stroke survivors may be more effective potentially than parallel bars and hemi-walkers in gait assistance of chronic hemiplegic stroke survivors.PMID:37661897 | DOI:10.3233/THC-230197

What Are the Complications of Sickle Cell Trait?
Discussion Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a group of inherited blood disorders where there are abnormal hemoglobin molecules and the red blood cells take on a characteristic sickled shape instead of a rounded shape. Sickled hemoglobin provides an evolutionary advantage of giving the individual increased protection against severe and cerebral malaria. The sickled shape doesn’t move through the vascular system as well and therefore is more likely to aggregate in small vessels causing an increased risk of vaso-occlusive disease, acute chest syndrome, splenic sequestration, and priapism. There is also an increased risk of ...

Exertional Heat Stroke Survival at the Falmouth Road Race: 180 New Cases With Expanded Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: This is the second-largest civilian database of EHS cases ever reported; however, when combined with the previous dataset of EHS survivors from this race, it amounts to 454 EHS cases resulting in 100% survival. WBGT remains a strong predictor of EHS and EHI cases. These findings support that a wide range of ages and sexes can be treated with CWI with 100% survival from EHS.PMID:37655801 | DOI:10.4085/1062-6050-0065.23

Effect of using an 8-figure shoulder brace on arm swing angle and gait parameters in chronic stroke patients: a pilot randomized controlled study
CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated that 8-FSBTT training, combined with standard physiotherapy, improved Arm swing angle, gait speed, cadence, and both side stride lengths in the chronic stroke patients.PMID:37651200 | DOI:10.1080/10749357.2023.2253626
