A case study investigating the efficacy of two treatments, botox and SaeboFlex in reduced hand function due to flexor spasticity
Purpose: Dynamic hand splints such as Saeboflex are a promising intervention for aiding functional use of a person's hand following a stroke. If spasticity is present it can be a major limiting factor in using a Saeboflex. The purpose of this case study is to report the use of a combination of Botulinum Toxin Type A (BtxA) to reduce spasticity, prior to initiating a repetitive training rehabilitation programme with a Saeboflex.

Contralateral Upper Limb Weakness Following Botulinum Toxin A Injection for Poststroke Spasticity.
We report the case of a 33-year-old female who had been receiving regular injections of incobotulinum toxin A due to spasticity of the right limbs after a hemorrhagic stroke. A switch was made to abobotulinum toxin A with an overall conversion ratio of 1:3.83. The patient presented contralateral upper limb paresis, especially of the deltoid muscle, in the second week post-injection. Botulinum Toxin Type A for Upper Limb Spasticity in Poststroke Patients: A Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Background and Aim: Botulinum toxin type A is considered to be an effective antispasmodic in recent years. We assess the effectiveness of botulinum toxin type A for the treatment of poststroke spasticity in the upper extremity using a meta-analysis. Methods: We searched several databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane database for relevant studies, up until October 2017. All randomized controlled trials of botulinum toxin type A treat poststroke upper limb spasticity published were included.

“Poststroke Postural Sway Improved by Botulinum Toxin: A Multicenter Randomized Double-blind Controlled Trial”
We read the article by Kerzoncuf et  al1 with great interest. We appreciate the authors’ efforts to assess the effects of injecting botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) into the lower limb muscles of people with hemiparesis post stroke. However, we have 2 concerns that may alter their conclusion.

Wrist-hand extension function recovery in spastic hemiplegia patient by botulinum toxin injection plus surface electromyography biofeedback therapy: A case report
We reported a 46-year-old male suffered a spastic hemiplegia with wrist- hand extension deficit. Diagnoses: Computed tomography showed cerebral hemorrhage in the left basal ganglia region. Interventions: Four hundred units of BoNTA were injected into the spasticity flexors, and four-week post injection surface electromyography (sEMG) biofeedback therapy was applied to the patient. A systematic review on extracorporeal shock wave therapy and botulinum toxin for spasticity treatment: a comparison on efficacy
CONCLUSIONS: A beneficial effect on spasticity was found for both treatments: evidence showed that ESWT and BoNT-A can ameliorate spasticity considering parameters such as MAS, MTS, AROM, PROM, UE-FMA, VAS and SFS in post-stroke, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy patients.
