Fatal Exertional Heat Stroke and American Football Players: The Need for Regional Heat-Safety Guidelines.
CONCLUSIONS:   The combination of lower exposure WBGTs and frequent extreme climatic values in milder climates during fatal EHSs indicates the need for regional activity-modification guidelines with lower, climatically appropriate weather-based thresholds. Established activity-modification guidelines, such as those from the American College of Sports Medicine, work well in the hotter climates, such as the southern United States, where hot and humid weather conditions are common. Sedentary Behavior and Physical Functioning in Middle-Age and Older Adults Living in the United States: The Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke Study
We examined the independent and joint effects of sedentary behavior and moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity (MVPA) with measures of physical functioning. Methods We studied 5408 participants in the REasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke study who wore a hip-mounted accelerometer over seven consecutive days (2009–2013) and had self-reported and directly observed physical function (time walk, chair stand test) measured during an in-home visit conducted from 2013 to 2016. Associations Between Active Commuting and Cardiovascular Disease in the United States
CONCLUSION: Significant negative correlations were observed between active commuting and prevalence rates of coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, and stroke. Appropriateness of Carotid Endarterectomy in Asymptomatic Carotid Disease —Predicting 5-Year Survival
Guidelines from the Society for Vascular Surgery and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Asssociation recommend carotid endarterectomy (CEA) for asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis if a patient ’s minimum life expectancy is 3 to 5 years. An estimated 20% of CEAs for asymptomatic carotid stenosis are performed in patients with life-limiting conditions. Given the rapidly aging surgical patient population in the United States, it is imperative that surgeons have the tools to adequately iden tify patients who will benefit from surgery.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy research: an analysis of the 100 most-cited publications from 2011 to 2020
CONCLUSIONS: The annual number of HBO2 publications was stationary. The citation numbers showed a skewed distribution. The United States was the leading country in HBO2 research.
