Effects of dry needling on function, hypertonia and quality of life in chronic stroke: a randomized clinical trial
CONCLUSIONS: A single session of DN improved total wrist-hand motor function and total sensorimotor function in persons with chronic stroke immediately after treatment, as well as quality of life 2 weeks after treatment.TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: NCT03546517 (ClinicalTrials.gov).PMID:34894776 | DOI:10.1177/09645284211056347

Electroacupuncture promotes microglial M2 polarization in ischemic stroke via annexin A1
CONCLUSION: The current study provides strong evidence that EA treatment has protective effects against ischemic stroke in the MCAO/R mouse model and that the mechanism likely involves the promotion of M2 polarization in microglia via ANXA1.PMID:34894768 | DOI:10.1177/09645284211057570

Gait instability and estimated core temperature predict exertional heat stroke
CONCLUSION: The combination of two algorithms that estimate Tcr and ataxic gate appears promising for real-time alerting of impending EHS.PMID:35022161 | DOI:10.1136/bjsports-2021-104081

Association of Pre-Diabetes and type 2 diabetes mellitus with intracranial plaque characteristics in patients with acute ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with pre-diabetes and T2DM had similar intracranial atherosclerotic plaque vulnerability, as demonstrated by multiple plaques, increased culprit plaque enhancement ratio and global plaque enhancement score.ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: Pre-diabetes might be a risk factor for intracranial plaque vulnerability. It is necessary to monitor a slight increase in blood glucose in non-diabetes patients with acute ischemic stroke.PMID:36350061 | DOI:10.1259/bjr.20220802

Vagus Nerve Stimulation Paired with Upper-Limb Rehabilitation After Stroke: Two- and Three-Year Follow-up from the Pilot Study
CONCLUSIONS: Significant effects of Paired VNS therapy at one year were maintained at years 2 and 3, and further improvements in both impairment and function were observed in years 2 and 3. These changes were associated with improvements in measures of activity and participation.PMID:37001842 | DOI:10.1016/j.apmr.2023.02.012
