Stroke rehabilitation and recovery
This article discusses some post-stroke impairments, including hemiplegia, dysphagia, communication impairments and neglect, and how rehabilitation can address these. Developing techniques of adaptation or compensation is vital, since the extent of stroke recovery is dependent on successful neuroplasticity, with healthy neurons adapting to compensate for damaged ones.PMID:34601931 | DOI:10.12968/hmed.2020.0701

Motor function and fALFF modulation in convalescent-period ischemic stroke patients after scalp acupuncture therapy: a multi-centre randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSION: Scalp acupuncture improved motor function in convalescent-period ischemic stroke patients, and effects were correlated with regulation of motor-relevant brain regions. The fALFF value of the ipsilateral precentral and postcentral gyri could be potential clinical indices for prognostication of motor dysfunction.TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: NCT03120650 (http://www.clinicaltrials.gov).PMID:35673804 | DOI:10.1177/09645284221086289

A total of 16 semi-structured, digitally recorded face-to-face qualitative interviews were conducted with a purposive sample of stroke family caregivers in north-west England. Thematic analy...
