Impact of non-adherence to direct oral anticoagulants amongst Swedish patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation: results from a real-world cost-utility analysis
CONCLUSION: Adherence improving interventions for NVAF patients on DOACs such as chronic disease co-management and patient education can be cost-saving and cost-effective, within a range of costs that appear reasonable to the Swedish healthcare system.PMID:35997241 | DOI:10.1080/13696998.2022.2116848

Stroke and death-findings from a 25-year follow-up of a cohort of employed Swedish middle-aged men of the Coeur study
ConclusionFew of the traditional risk factors were significantly associated with stroke possibly explained by low power and/or different pathogenetic mechanism than for myocardial infarction.Partly because death occurred more often, we did find a number of potential risk factors to be significantly associated with this outcome.

What stroke image do we want? European survey on acute stroke imaging and revascularisation treatment
ConclusionThe diagnostic workup and, to a greater extent, the revascularisation treatments of typical stroke patients vary considerably across European countries. This study reinforces the need to compare the quality of stroke care in terms of process and outcomes between countries. Research is also needed to investigate the cost-effectiveness of second-line imaging strategies in acute stroke care.

What are the images used to diagnose and assess suspected strokes?: A systematic literature review of care in four European countries.
Authors: Peultier AC, Redekop K, Coche E, Severens JL Abstract INTRODUCTION: The cost-effectiveness of clinical interventions is often assessed using current care as comparator. However, evidence suggests practice variation in stroke imaging across countries. For the purpose of feeding into cost-effectiveness analysis, this research aims to describe the patterns of stroke imaging, examine practice variations across countries and, as such, obtain results reflecting current care. Areas covered: A systematic literature review was conducted to identify original studies reporting the imaging workup used in acute stroke ...

Home setting after stroke, facilitators and barriers: A systematic literature review
Abstract This paper seeks to improve the understanding of the interaction between patients with stroke and the physical environment in their home settings. Stroke care is increasingly performed in the patient's home. Therefore, a systematic review was conducted to identify the existing knowledge about facilitators and barriers in the physical environment of home settings for the stroke rehabilitation process. Based upon Arksey and O'Malley's framework, a Boolean search strategy was performed in the databases; CINAHL, Medline, Web of Science and Scopus. Fifteen articles were retained from the literature search conducted bet...
