Detection of occult atrial fibrillation with 24-hour ECG after cryptogenic acute stroke or transient ischaemic attack: A retrospective cross-sectional study in a primary care database in Israel
CONCLUSION: 24-hour Holter has a low AF/AFL detection rate. Older persons and those with hypertension or CKD are more likely to be detected with AF/AFL using this method.PMID:34240675 | DOI:10.1080/13814788.2021.1947237

E-121 Evaluation of safety and efficacy of snuffbox (Distal Radial Artery) access for mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionSnuffbox (distal radial artery) access for mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke is feasible and safe. It represents a good alternative to the traditional femoral approach, especially in cases of posterior circulation strokes, patients on anticoagulation or with large body habitus.Disclosures A. E-222 How far is too far in stroke thrombectomy? from xl to xs vessel occlusions with radially adjustable stent-retrievers - tigertriever xl and tigertriever 13
ConclusionMechanical thrombectomy for both primary or secondary DMVO seems feasible and as safe as for LVO. Our initial experience using the Tigertriever13 is of special interest as it shows we can potentially significantly expand AIS population that can benefit from mechanical thrombectomy treatment.Disclosures A. Sex-dependent outcomes of recanalization-treated acute ischemic stroke patients at Shamir (Assaf Harofeh) medical center, Israel, 2011 –2020
Sex-based differences in incidence, etiologies, severity and recanalization treatment outcomes of patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) have been studied extensively. We set out to determine if there were sex-based differences in outcomes among AIS patients who received recanalization treatments at Shamir (Assaf Harofeh) Medical Center (SMC), Israel, between 2011 and 2020.

Management of a Special Warfare Trainee With Repeat Exertional Heat Stroke: A Case Study
CONCLUSIONS: In individuals with repeat EHS, a prolonged recovery period followed by heat tolerance testing can be used to demonstrate appropriate thermotolerance and safely clear an individual to begin stepwise reacclimatization. Overall, patient care and military readiness may be improved by unified Department of Defense guidelines for return to duty after EHS.PMID:37290772 | DOI:10.1123/jsr.2022-0324

Tangier disease in Israel; Complicated by mobile lipomatous mass on mitral valve and acute stroke
Background and Aims: Tangier disease (TD) is a rare genetic disease which causes very low or even deficient HDL in plasma and accumulation of cholesterol in different tissues throughout the body. The disease is related to early onset of atherosclerotic disease and other clinical sequelae, previous articles described increased incidence of stroke in tangier patients. Valvular involvement in Tangier's disease was never described before .

P-039 Flow diverters for treatment of ICA loop dissections or ICA dissections with associated pseudoaneurysm
ConclusionUse of flow diverters, in some cases in conjunction with (carotid) stents, is an effective treatment option for cervical carotid artery dissections, especially loop dissections with or without associated pseudo aneurysms.Disclosures J. Clinical Ageing
Subcell Biochem. 2023;103:437-458. doi: 10.1007/978-3-031-26576-1_16.ABSTRACTAgeing is generally characterised by the declining ability to respond to stress, increasing homeostatic imbalance, and increased risk of ageing-associated diseases . Mechanistically, the lifelong accumulation of a wide range of molecular and cellular impairments leads to organismal senescence. The aging population poses a severe medical concern due to the burden it places on healthcare systems and the general public as well as the prevalence of diseases and impairments associated with old age. In this chapter, we discuss organ failure during agein...
