Vasoprotective Effects of Hyperoside against Cerebral Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Rats: Activation of Large-Conductance Ca < sup > 2+ < /sup > -Activated K < sup > + < /sup > Channels
Neural Plast. 2023 Aug 14;2023:5545205. doi: 10.1155/2023/5545205. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTHyperoside (Hyp), a kind of Chinese herbal medicine, exerts multiple therapeutic effects on many diseases. However, the role and mechanisms of Hyp in vascular pathophysiology in ischemic stroke need to be further established. The study aimed to investigate the role of (large-conductance Ca2+-activated K+) BK channels on the vasoprotection of Hyp against cerebral ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats. The concentration gradient of Hyp was pretreated in both the middle cerebral artery occlusion and reperfusion model and oxygen...

CYP2C19 Loss-of-Function Variants Associated with Long-term Ischemic Stroke Events During Clopidogrel Treatment in the Chinese Population
This study aims to determine whether CYP2C19 loss-of-function (LoF) variants were associated with long-term ischemic stroke risk in Chinese primary care patients treated with clopidogrel. Patients treated with clopidogrel were ascertained from a Chinese Electronic Medical Record linked with biobank for a retrospective cohort study. Their medical information was examined for the period from January 2018 to December 2021. Two CYP2C19 major loss of function variants (*2:rs4244285, *3: rs4986893) were genotyped. The clinical outcome was ischemic stroke event. Cox regression analysis was used to evaluate the association between...

Effect modification by high-concentration duration in the association between particulate matters and stroke hospital admissions among hypertension patients in Beijing, China
AbstractTo investigate the associations between particulate matter (PM) and hospital admissions for stroke and its subtypes among hypertension patients. We proposed a new modifier named high-concentration duration (HCD). Data on daily hospital admissions, air pollution, and meteorological factors were collected from 2014 to 2018 in Beijing, China. We included all patients with hypertension who were admitted to hospitals of secondary-level and above for stroke. Time-series analysis was conducted by fitting a generalized additive model. An interaction term of daily concentration and an HCD stratum indicator were included in ...

Dl-3-n-butylphthalide promotes angiogenesis in ischemic stroke mice through upregulating autocrine and paracrine sonic hedgehog
In this study, we investigated the mechanisms underlying the angiogenesis-promoting effects of NBP in ischemic stroke models in vitro and in vivo. OGD/R model was established in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and human brain microvascular endothelial cells (HBMECs), while the tMCAO model was established in mice. The cells were pretreated with NBP (10, 50, 100 µM); the mice were administered NBP (4, 8 mg/kg, i.v.) twice after tMCAO. We showed that NBP treatment significantly stimulated angiogenesis by inducing massive production of angiogenic growth factors VEGFA and CD31 in both in vitro and in vivo model...
