EE392 Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Atrial Fibrillation Screening for a 50 –65-Year-Old Population With Elevated Stroke Risk
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the main risk factors for strokes. European guidelines recommend screening measures to detect AF for the age group above 65 years. Cost-effectiveness of a telemetric AF-detection method (Preventicus Heartbeats) was demonstrated for the age group above 65 years for Germany. Below 65 years screening is only recommended with presence of risk factors, usually assessed by CHA2DS2-VASc score. This analysis examines the cost-effectiveness of telemetric AF-screening for the population aged 50-65 years in Germany with CHA2DS2-VASc score of minimum 1 (men) or minimum 2 (women).

The association between the body height and cardiovascular diseases: a retrospective analysis of 657,310 outpatients in Germany
ConclusionWe present the first data from a large cohort of outpatients in Germany providing strong evidence for an association between the body height and common CVD. These data should stimulate a discussion as to how far the body height should be implemented as a parameter in stratification tools to assess CVD risk in order to further reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in the future.

Comparative Effectiveness and Safety Between Apixaban, Dabigatran, Edoxaban, and Rivaroxaban Among Patients With Atrial Fibrillation : A Multinational Population-Based Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: Among patients with AF, apixaban use was associated with lower risk for GIB and similar rates of ischemic stroke or systemic embolism, ICH, and all-cause mortality compared with dabigatran, edoxaban, and rivaroxaban. This finding was consistent for patients aged 80 years or older and those with chronic kidney disease, who are often underrepresented in clinical trials.PRIMARY FUNDING SOURCE: None.PMID:36315950 | DOI:10.7326/M22-0511

GARFIELD-AF: risk profiles, treatment patterns and 2-year outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH) compared to 32 countries in other regions worldwide
ConclusionsSimilarities and dissimilarities in AF management and clinical outcomes are seen in DACH and ORW. The increased use of NOAC was associated with a mismatch of risk-adapted anticoagulation (over-and-undertreatment) in DACH. Suboptimal control of INR requires educational activities in both regional groups. Higher rates of cardiovascular death in DACH may reflect the higher risk profile of these patients and lower rates of non-haemorrhagic stroke could be associated with increased NOAC use.Graphical abstract

Impact of Procedure Volume on the Outcomes of Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement
CONCLUSION: Patients treated in very low volume centers (≤25 operations/year) had a similar risk regarding in-hospital mortality and most complications compared with very high-volume centers (>100 operations/year). Only in the case of acute kidney injury, very high-volume centers showed better outcomes than very low volume centers. Therefore, surgical aortic valve replacement can be performed safely independent of case volume.PMID:35917823 | DOI:10.1055/s-0042-1754352
