E-025 First Reported Case of Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke in an Individual with a Total Artificial Heart
ConclusionEVT has been proven to be safe and efficacious for AIS. Prior reports have demonstrated benefit for patients with concurrent mechanical circulatory support devices; however, our report is the first case demonstrating efficacy with a TAH device. Presence of mechanical circulatory support devices should not exclude EVT in individuals with AIS.DisclosuresM. Nezhad: None. P. Eboli: None. M. Austin: None. K. Schlick: None. M. Alexander: None.

E-039 Comparison of Medical Therapy vs. Intra-Arterial Therapy for Acute Vertebrobasilar Stroke
ConclusionCompared to medical trials in 2015, which demonstrate clinical benefit for IAT over medical therapy for acute ischemic stroke of the anterior circulation, the posterior circulation is less well studied. Important prognostic factors for stroke due to large vessel occlusion of posterior circulation include posterior ASPECTS score and infarct volume in the brainstem. In this small retrospective study, patients treated with IAT had greater stroke severity than the medical cohort, yet they had similar rates of good functional outcome. Parameters of this retrospective analysis may be used to improve triage and treatmen...

E-053 Time is Brain: Standardizing Thrombectomy Metrics Leads to Faster Recanalization
ConclusionsOur initiatives allowed us to refine our process of care, resulting in a significant reduction of time between patient arrival and imaging, imaging to puncture, and puncture to recanalization.DisclosuresD. E-054 Correlation between Thrombus Density and Recanalization or Stroke Etiology in Acute Ischemic Stroke
ConclusionIn conclusion, our study found no relationship between thrombus attenuation and recanalization success or stroke etiology. While prior studies have suggested that higher attenuation is associated with good recanalization, our study could not find such a link.4 More studies are required to identify factors that predict successful recanalization in acute ischemic stroke patients.DisclosuresM. E-055 Endovascular Therapy for Patients with Acute Large MCA Territory Ischemia: Its Effect on the Risk of Subsequent Development of Deep Venous Thrombosis
ConclusionsIn patients with acute large MCA territory ischemia, endovascular recanalization therapy appeared to decrease the risk of developing subsequent DVT or PE. However, a larger sample size is needed to demonstrate statistical significance. Interestingly, majority of DVT were developed on the side of the extremity contralateral to the affected cerebral hemisphere.DisclosuresZ. Li: None. M. Cox: None.

E-065 "Rescue" Intracranial Stenting for Refractory Large Vessel (Re)occlusion in Acute Ischemic Stroke
ConclusionIntracranial stent placement for refractory large vessel (re)occlusion in acute ischemic stroke is feasible with high technical success rate, however, this is not always associated with favorable clinical outcome. If refractory vessel occlusion or reocclusion is encountered during acute stroke intervention, early stent placement and recanalization may lead to more favorable outcome. Verification in a larger cohort is necessary.DisclosuresG. Toth: None. S. John: None. M. Elgabaly: None. M. Hussain: None. M. Bain: None.

E-067 Endovascular Approach in the Repair of the Middle Cerebral Artery Aneurysm Including Those with Wide Neck and Complex in Morphology-A Case Series
ConclusionsEndovascular repair of the MCA aneurysm inclosing those with wide neck and complex are not only safe and feasible, but associated with high long-term functional outcome. Therefore, endovascular options must be offered to patients prior to surgical clipping of a MCA aneurysm. Further study may be warranted.DisclosuresY. Lodi: None. V. Reddy: None.

E-080 Preclinical Evaluation of Mechanical Thrombectomy Devices in a Swine Clot Model
ConclusionsNovel methods were developed to provide consistent thrombus morphology enabling controlled delivery and adherence and facilitating comparative analysis of thrombectomy devices using angiographic (TICI) flow assessment in the preclinical swine model. Angiographic assessments and vessel response to treatment by Mechanical Thrombectomy were successfully completed following occlusion with firm and soft thrombus administration.Abstract E-080 Figure 1DisclosuresL. E-084 Long-Term Clinical Outcomes in Patients with Acute Ischemic Strokes Treated with Mechanical Thrombectomy who had Moderate or Moderate Severe Disability at 90 Days
ConclusionAmong patients with AIS treated with MT who had moderate or moderate severe disability at 90 days, a considerable minority (30%) demonstrated a reduction in long-term disability with continued outpatient rehabilitation.DisclosuresJ. E-093 Contraindications for Radial Access in Endovascular Therapy of Acute Ischemic Strokes
ConclusionAn inherent limitation of transradial access is the restriction to a 6–7 F catheter; however other factors must be considered when identifying cases amenable to radial access. These factors include extreme tortuosity, which not only presents a challenge for radial access, but for all access modalities, and patient height. Patients of above average height or have distal occlusions present a true challenge to the efficacy of radial access as current catheters are limited in length, and thus unable to reach the desired destination. These contraindications are important factors when considering this method of ap...

Mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke with cerebral microbleeds
Conclusions Patients with CMBs are not at increased risk for HT and mortality following mechanical thrombectomy for acute stroke. Excluding such patients from mechanical thrombectomy is unwarranted. The risk of HT in patients with ≥5 CMBs requires further study.
