Statin Therapy in HIGH-Risk Individuals with NORMal Coronary Arteries: The HIGH-NORM Study
CONCLUSIONS: Statin use was not associated with cardiovascular risk reduction in high-risk persons with normal or near normal coronary arteries. More individualised lipid-lowering therapy may benefit this population.PMID:34334544 | DOI:10.5551/jat.63004

O-005 Comparison of on-label versus off-label treatment of intracranial aneurysms with the pipeline embolization devices
ConclusionIn real-world practice, off-label uses of PED can achieve similar safety and efficacy to on-label uses, though there may be a slightly higher rate of ischemic complications in off-label uses. Expert judgment is a useful supplement to official guidelines when assessing reasonable PED use beyond its approved indications.Disclosures S. Cler: None. D. Lauzier: None. A. P-042 Initial experience with tenecteplase as the intravenous thrombolytic of choice before mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionIntravenous TNK in patients with LVOAIS is feasible, safe and effective. In our cohort from ‘real world’ patients, TNK was associated with lower need for MT, high recanalization rates and shorter hospitalization.Disclosures U. Ugur: None. S. Platko: None. D. Peters: None. E-004 Focal intracranial vasculopathy as a manifestation of COVID-19-associated acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionTo our knowledge, our case is the first to illustrate the potential for COVID-19 infection to present as a focal intracranial vasculopathy in an otherwise healthy young-patient, resulting in acute ischemic stroke without an underlying hypercoagulable state. Rescue intracranial stenting was necessary to maintain vessel patency and restore intracranial flow.Disclosures A. Mahapatra: None. A. Witek: None. G. Toth: None.

E-005 Preliminary results of the SUMMIT NZ ischemic stroke trial: MonoPoint(R) embolectomy featuring a novel 088 aspiration catheter and specialized delivery catheter
ConclusionsPreliminary findings suggest that first-line aspiration embolectomy using a novel MonoPoint® system including an 0.088" inner diameter aspiration catheter achieves a high rate of arterial revascularization with an acceptable safety profile. A full report on enrollment and results are to be presented.Disclosures S. Brew: 1; C; Route 92 Medical. 2; C; Route 92 Medical, Microvention. B. E-043 Assessing safety of femoral arterial sheath removal in under 24 hours post-intravascular thrombolysis in stroke patients who undergo mechanical thrombectomy
ConclusionSimilar rates of complications were discovered in both groups of patients, without any significant increase in those whose FAS was removed within 24 hours of tPA administration. Further evaluation should be considered to assess the safety of FAS removal in these patients.Disclosures M. Cohen: None. A. Garg: None.

E-073 Clot bank collaborative registry protocol: Novel method for evaluating ischemic thrombus
ConclusionWe have developed a novel tissue banking protocol to preserve microbiota from arterial thrombi retrieved from ischemic stroke patients. While there is no consensus which class of pathogens is implicated in the susceptibility to stroke, multiple studies including our own, have shown bacterial fragments and communities in cerebral thrombi. The specimens captured during standard-of-care thrombectomy allow us to characterize and functionally define the microbiota associated with cerebral thrombi in ischemic stroke patients.Disclosures M.
