Validation of Safer and Faster CT Imaging Technique to Assess Clot Size and Vessel Diameter in Acute Ischemic Stroke Interventions (P5.274)
Conclusions:Thin-sliced reconstructions of standard cranial nonenhanced CT raw data can be reliably used to detect and measure the thrombus size in LVOs. It also reliably measures the vessel diameter, making intervention planning possible. Larger multicenter trials are needed to validate our data.Disclosure: Dr. Kulhari has nothing to disclose. Association of clot burden score with radiographic and clinical outcomes following Solitaire stent retriever thrombectomy: analysis of the SWIFT PRIME trial
Conclusions The combination of IV thrombolysis and stent retriever thrombectomy with the Solitaire device is highly effective in achieving successful recanalization and a good clinical outcome throughout the entire range of CBS values.

Successful recanalization using the Embolus Retriever with Interlinked Cage for acute stroke due to calcified cerebral emboli.
We describe a case of a mechanical thrombectomy with the Embolus Retriever with Interlinked Cage (ERIC) device in a patient with an acute ischemic stroke due to calcified cerebral emboli in the middle cerebral artery. The procedure was done after a failed recanalization attempt with manual aspiration thrombectomy. An 82-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with a sudden onset of right-sided weakness. A computed tomographic angiography showed left middle cerebral (M1 branch) calcified emboli. After the administration of an intravenous thrombolytic agent, the patient was transferred to the angiographic suite ...

Endovascular Thrombectomy of Calcified Emboli in Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Multicenter Study.
CONCLUSIONS: Acute ischemic stroke with large-vessel occlusion due to calcified emboli is a rare entity in patients undergoing thrombectomy, with considerably worse angiographic outcome and a higher mortality compared with patients with noncalcified thrombi. Good functional recovery at 3 months can still be achieved in about a quarter of patients. PMID: 32029470 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Characteristics of Symptomatic Basilar Artery Stenosis Using High-Resolution Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Ischemic Stroke Patients.
CONCLUSIONS: The etiology of stenosis or occlusion was unclear until the development of HR-MRI. With HR-MRI, stroke etiology is better understood, and factors affecting each etiology can be identified. Further studies that clarify the etiology of posterior circulation stroke are required. Cryptogenic Stroke Caused by Pulmonary Arterial Venous Malformation with Massive Right-to-Left Shunt: A Case Report
ConclusionsPAVM is an important risk factor for PE and CS and should not be ignored as a possible etiology in stroke patients without any other risk factors. CTA of the pulmonary artery is the recommended gold standard for diagnosing and locating a PAVM. Thrombolytic therapy within the time window combined with transcatheter device occlusion of arteriovenous malformation and rehabilitation training may benefit the recovery of patients with CS caused by PE resulting from PAVM.

Cerebral Venous Thrombosis Mimicking Acute Ischemic Stroke in the Emergency Assessment of Thrombolysis Eligibility: Learning from a Misdiagnosed Case
CONCLUSION: Patients with CVT have a higher risk of thrombolysis-related intracranial hemorrhage than other stroke mimics. A greater focus on noncontrast brain CT and the venous phase of CT angiography help identifying this stroke mimic before thrombolysis.PMID:34841501
