Outcomes of transulnar and transradial percutaneous coronary intervention using ultrasound guided access in patients selected based on an ultrasound algorithm
Indian Heart J. 2021 May-Jun;73(3):362-364. doi: 10.1016/j.ihj.2021.03.005. Epub 2021 Mar 17.ABSTRACTWe performed a prospective observational study of 215 patients (58 ± 11 years) and compared the outcomes of ultrasound guided ulnar (n = 98, 45.6%) vs. radial (n = 117, 54.4%) cardiac catheterization and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients selected by an ultrasound based algorithm. Primary endpoints included the number of access attempts and conversion to femoral access. Secondary endpoints included all-cause mortality, cardiac mortality, myocardial infarction, stroke, repeat revascularization, stent throm...

Association Between a Body Shape Index and Subclinical Carotid Atherosclerosis in Population Free of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases
CONCLUSIONS: ABSI, as a novel anthropometric indicator compared with traditional indices, was found to have a closer relationship with subclinical carotid atherosclerosis, even in populations free of hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia.PMID:34483222 | DOI:10.5551/jat.62988

Recent ultrasound advancements for the manipulation of nanobiomaterials and nanoformulations for drug delivery
Ultrason Sonochem. 2021 Oct 21;80:105805. doi: 10.1016/j.ultsonch.2021.105805. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRecent advances in ultrasound (US) have shown its great potential in biomedical applications as diagnostic and therapeutic tools. The coupling of ultrasound-assisted drug delivery systems with nanobiomaterials possessing tailor-made functions has been shown to remove the limitations of conventional drug delivery systems. The low-frequency ultrasound has significantly enhanced the targeted drug delivery effect and efficacy, reducing limitations posed by conventional treatments such as a limited therapeutic window. Th...

Angiographic-only or intravascular ultrasound-guided approach for left-main coronary artery intervention: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: IVUS-guided LMCA intervention is associated with overall improved cardiovascular outcomes than the angiography-only approach. This needs to be tested in a large randomized controlled trial.PMID:34747315 | DOI:10.1080/14779072.2021.2004122
