ConclusionsNewly initiated anticoagulation with apixaban in patients with nonvalvular AF scheduled for TEE-guided DCC seems to be as effective and safe as uninterrupted VKA therapy during 12  months of follow-up.

This study investigated the long-term efficacy and safety of newly initiated anticoagulation with dabigatran versus uninterrupted vitamin K antagonist (VKA) therapy in patients with AF scheduled for transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE)-guided direct electrical current cardioversion (DCC). ConclusionsThe prevalence of AF is high amongst HD patients and is associated with age, sex, and distinct comorbidities. Practice patterns of antithrombotic treatment indicate a lack of consensus for stroke prevention in HD patients with AF.

An epidemiological study to evaluate the use of vitamin K antagonists and new oral anticoagulants among non-valvular atrial fibrillation patients in Turkey- AFTER-2 study design.
CONCLUSION: The rates and kind of oral anticoagulant use, TTR in vitamin K antagonist users and main management modality applied in non-valvular AF patients will be determined by AFTER-2 study.
