Hemodynamic outcomes of stenting for vertebrobasilar insufficiency in patients with a low flow state
CONCLUSIONS: Our series demonstrates angioplasty and stenting significantly improve intracranial flow over long-term. Angioplasty and stenting may improve the natural history of low-flow VB atherosclerotic disease.PMID:37386804 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231185801

Oral Anticoagulation and Antiplatelets in Atrial Fibrillation Patients After Myocardial Infarction and Coronary Intervention
ConclusionsIn real-life AF patients with indication for multiple antithrombotic drugs after MI/PCI, OAC and clopidogrel was equal or better on both benefit and safety outcomes compared to triple therapy.

Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion Opportunities and Challenges
Stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation is a growing clinical dilemma as the incidence of the arrhythmia increases and risk profiles worsen. Strategies in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation have included anticoagulation with a variety of drugs. Knowledge that stroke in this setting typically results from thrombus in the left atrial appendage has led to the development of mechanical approaches, both catheter-based and surgical, to occlude that structure. Such a device, if it were safe and effective, might avoid the need for anticoagulation and prevent stroke in the large number of patients who are ...

Internal Carotid Artery Floating Thrombus in Relapsing Polychondritis
We present a 52‐year‐old man without any known risk factors for stroke, treated with prednisone and azathioprine for relapsing polychondritis, who presented a minor left hemisphere stroke. Ultrasound of the neck vessels revealed an isoechogenic thrombus in the left internal carotid artery superimposed on a smooth moderately stenosing isoechogenic atheroma of the carotid bulb. The patient was treated with high‐dose tinzaparin and was followed with serial ultrasound. After 16 days, the thrombus demonstrated a hypoechogenic core surrounded by a hyperechogenic rim and the following day it resolved completely. Thrombus fo...

Early middle cerebral artery stenosis following stent-assisted thrombectomy.
We present a middle cerebral artery (MCA) stroke patient who had four repetitive stent passes during SAT and developed distal MCA stenosis 2 months after SAT at the control magnetic resonance angiography (MRA). Inclusion of early follow-up MRA studies would be helpful in defining the silent vascular changes in patients who have undergone repetitive SAT. PMID: 26015531 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Therapeutic challenges after successful thrombectomy in a patient with an antiphospholipid syndrome associated M1-occlusion: A case report.
CONCLUSION: This case report showed the feasibility of mechanical clot retrieval and stent implantation in patients with APS. Due to the elevated risk of in-stent thrombosis a prolonged therapy with glycoprotein (GP)IIb/IIIa receptor antagonists in the initial postoperative period and further anticoagulation with coumarin derivate might be needed. Cross-circulation thrombectomy with use of a stent retriever: A case report.
Conclusion To our knowledge, we report the first case of cross-circulation, anterior-to-posterior thrombectomy, with the use of a stent-retriever device. Cross-circulation stroke treatment may be beneficial in cases of proximal vessel occlusion or anatomical constraints. Larger studies will need to evaluate the safety and efficacy of these approaches. Transcriptomic analysis of the harvested endothelial cells in a swine model of mechanical thrombectomy
ConclusionECs harvested during MT can be cultured and analyzed using single-cell transcriptomic techniques. This analysis can be implemented in clinical practice to study the EC gene expression of comorbidities, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and metabolic syndrome, in patients suffering from acute ischemic stroke.

Slow Collateral Flow Is Associated with Thrombus Extension in Patients with Acute Large-Artery Occlusion INTERVENTIONAL
CONCLUSIONS: Slow collateral flow was related to thrombus extension in patients with large-artery occlusion without recanalization after intravenous thrombolysis.

Acute administration of tirofiban versus aspirin in emergent carotid artery stenting.
CONCLUSIONS: Tirofiban and aspirin demonstrated similar efficacy and safety in thrombolyzed stroke patients who underwent eCAS in our cohort. Intravenous tirofiban with its short half-life might represent an alternative to aspirin in select patients. PMID: 30394839 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

MRI Quantitative T2* Mapping to Predict Dominant Composition of In Vitro Thrombus ADULT BRAIN
CONCLUSIONS: MR imaging quantitative T2* mapping can reliably identify the thrombus red blood cell content in vitro. This fast, easy-to-use sequence could be implemented in routine practice to predict stroke etiology and adapt devices or techniques for endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke.
