Low Incidence of Ischemic Stroke Associated With Thrombus Aspiration in STEMI Patients Undergoing Primary PCI
CONCLUSIONS: Very low stroke rates immediately post STEMI were seen in patients undergoing TA and PPCI in this real-world study. TA can be performed safely in STEMI patients undergoing PPCI with a short-term stroke risk equivalent to risk without TA. Further studies may be needed to explain the increased incidence of late stroke noted after TA and elucidate causative mechanisms.PMID:34433694

Hemorrhagic Transformation Rates following Contrast Media Administration in Patients Hospitalized with Ischemic Stroke ADULT BRAIN
CONCLUSIONS: Iso-osmolar contrast media was associated with a lower rate of hemorrhagic transformation compared with low-osmolar contrast media in patients with ischemic stroke.

Systemic thrombolysis for stroke in pregnancy
Pregnancy is an exclusion criterion for all clinical trials that validate alteplase in acute stroke, so our knowledge about its use in this condition is relative only to case reports and case series. Herein, we report the successful use of intravenous recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator (rt-PA) in pregnant women with acute stroke. The patient was a 28-year-old who was 16 weeks pregnant. She presented to our hospital 1 hour after a sudden onset of mothor aphasia, hemiparesis, and hypoesthesia on the right side due to incipient ischemia in the left cerebral hemisphere resulting from ipsilateral middle cerebral arte...

E-020 Between a Rock and a Hard Place: The Use of Self-expanding Stents for the Endovascular Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke due to Recalcitrant Emergency Large Vessel Occlusion in the Era of Stent-retrievers: Single-center Experience and Early Results
ConclusionInitial results suggest that acute intracranial stenting may be beneficial in a subset of patients who present with an ELVO and who have failed recanalization by means of mechanical thrombectomy with stent-retrievers and/or thromboaspiration with large bore intracranial catheters.DisclosuresJ. Acute myocardial infarction complicating ischemic stroke: is there room for cangrelor?
We report two cases of patients with AMI complicating ischemic stroke, successfully treated with cangrelor infusion, which was started during PCI and maintained up to 48 h at bridge therapy dosage (0.75 mcg/kg/min). Both patients underwent successful PCI in the acute phase, and neither ischemic nor hemorrhagic complications occurred during in-hospital stay. PMID: 31066332 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Therapeutic effect of pre-operative tirofiban on patients with acute ischemic stroke with mechanical thrombectomy within 6-24 hours.
CONCLUSION: The use of tirofiban before MT can shorten the procedure time and improve the recanalization rate of occluded vessels in AIS patients. PMID: 31112428 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

P-012 Thrombectomy aspiration post-market study in acute stroke: the TAPAS study
ConclusionThe Q Aspiration Catheter is a novel technology that showed comparable deliverability and revascularization rates as other commercially available catheters with no safety concerns. More prospective clinical data is needed to fully assess the Q Aspiration Catheter.AbbreviationsAIS (acute ischemic stroke), MT (mechanical thrombectomy), ASPECTs (Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score), mTICI (modified TICI score), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), mRS (modified Rankin Scale), ENT (embolization to a new territory), sICH (symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage)Disclosures F. E-004 Focal intracranial vasculopathy as a manifestation of COVID-19-associated acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionTo our knowledge, our case is the first to illustrate the potential for COVID-19 infection to present as a focal intracranial vasculopathy in an otherwise healthy young-patient, resulting in acute ischemic stroke without an underlying hypercoagulable state. Rescue intracranial stenting was necessary to maintain vessel patency and restore intracranial flow.Disclosures A. Mahapatra: None. A. Witek: None. G. Toth: None.

Rates of In-Hospital Procedures and Outcomes among Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Patients Admitted to Joint Commission Primary Stroke Centers in United States (P1.253)
Conclusions: Compared with non PSCs admissions, patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage admitted to PSCs are more likely to receive endovascular treatment and had higher odds of being discharged to home. Such observations support the notion that PSC certification may favorably impact outcomes in all stroke subtypes.Disclosure: Dr. Saeed has nothing to disclose. Dr. Chaudhry has nothing to disclose. Endovascular management of extracranial occlusions at the hyperacute phase of stroke with tandem occlusions
Conclusions ervical occlusion with coils and thrombectomy with stent-retrievers may be relevant to prevent early embolic recurrence in cervical occlusions with intraluminal thrombus. Stent-retrievers should be further assessed as a first-line approach, since delayed stroke may occur following occlusion with coils.
