Triglyceride-glucose index and the incidence of stroke: A meta-analysis of cohort studies
ConclusionA higher TyG index may be independently associated with a higher risk of stroke in individuals without stroke at baseline. The aforementioned findings need to be verified by a large-scale prospective cohort study to further clarify the underlying pathophysiological mechanism between the TyG index and stroke.

Efficacy and safety of endovascular treatment in patients older than 90 with acute ischemic stroke: A retrospective cohort study
ConclusionEVT in nonagenarians demonstrated a high rate of successful revascularization, whilst also showing an increased rate of sICH when compared to octogenarians. Mortality rates showed an age-related correlation. Although further studies are needed to clarify the patient selection algorithm and identify sub-groups of elderly patients that could benefit from EVT, we showed that some patients do benefit from EVT therefore exclusion should not be based on age alone.

ConclusionCombinations of automated software-based imaging analysis and clinical data can be useful for predicting short-term neurological outcome and may improve long-term prognostication in EVT. These results provide a basis for future development of predictive tools built into decision-aiding software in stroke.

Endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke with a fully radiopaque retriever: A randomized controlled trial
ConclusionThe Neurohawk retriever is non-inferior to the Solitaire FR in the mechanical thrombectomy of large vessel occlusion-acute ischemic stroke (LVO-AIS). More is less: Effect of ICF-based early progressive mobilization on severe aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage in the NICU
DiscussionWe conclude that the ICF-based early progressive mobilization protocol is an effective and feasible intervention tool. For validity, more mobilization interventions might lead to less pneumonia, duration of mechanical ventilation and length of stay for patients with severe aSAH in the NICU, Moreover, it is necessary to pay attention over potential adverse events (especially line problems), although we did not find serious safety events.

Quantitative pupillometry and radiographic markers of intracranial midline shift: A pilot study
ConclusionWe found the relationship between midline shift and asymmetric pupil reactivity may differ between IPH and ischemic stroke. Our study may serve as necessary preliminary data to guide further prospective investigation into how clinical manifestations of radiographic midline shift differ by diagnosis and proximity to the midbrain.

Machine learning approach for hemorrhagic transformation prediction: Capturing predictors' interaction
ConclusionCerebral microbleeds, NIHSS, and infarction size were identified as HT predictors. The best predicting models were RFC and GBC capable of capturing nonlinear interaction between predictors. Predictor interaction suggests a dynamic, rather than, fixed cutoff risk value for any of these predictors.

Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) with exercise (RICE) is safe and feasible for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients
ConclusionsRICE was safe and feasible for AIS patients, and seems to be a promising early stroke rehabilitation. The results of this study suggest a need for a future randomized and controlled multicenter trial with a larger sample size to determine the efficacy of RICE.

One-year recurrence of stroke and death in Lebanese survivors of first-ever stroke: Time-to-Event analysis
ConclusionHigher rates of stroke recurrence and death were observed in the first year following a stroke in Lebanon. Various factors were identified as significant determinants. Thus, health care providers and officials in Lebanon can use these findings to implement effective preventive strategies to best address the management of these factors to reduce the stroke burden and improve the short and long-term prognosis of stroke survivors.
