E-260 Bilateral cerebral arteriovenous shunting through pial and perforating vessels with multiple strokes and intraparenchymal hemorrhages in a patient with hepatopulmonary syndrome
This study presents a unique case of a 54-year-old male patient with a history of stroke, liver cirrhosis, portal vein thrombosis, hypertension, diabetes, and bladder cancer, who experienced multiple episodes of intracranial hemorrhages, stroke and worsening confusion over the past five years. The patient‘s clinical presentation raised suspicion for an underlying occult vasculopathy. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) revealed multiple curvilinear, irregular, bilateral pial vessels with early high-flow arteriovenous shunting, consistent with vascular shunting that is associated with liver cirrhosis. The patient&ls...

Atherosclerosis on CT coronary angiography and risk of long-term cardiovascular events post liver transplantation
CONCLUSION: The standardized CAD-RADS classification on CTCA predicted the occurrence of cardiovascular outcomes following LT, with a potential to increase utilization of preventive cardiovascular therapies.PMID:37432891 | DOI:10.1097/LVT.0000000000000215

Effect of norepinephrine on blood volume, cardiac output, and systemic filling pressure in patients undergoing liver transplantation
CONCLUSIONS: The norepinephrine infusion at 0.1 μg-1 kg-1 min-1 is associated with an increase in CO in patients with liver cirrhosis undergoing liver transplantation. Norepinephrine's effect on CO was primarily attributable to an increase in venous return due to an increase in mean systemic filling pressure.PMID:35833856 | DOI:10.23736/S0375-9393.22.16526-0

Liver Transplant in Hemoglobin SC Disease and Autoimmune Hepatitis: A Case Report
We report a case of a 50-year-old man with sickle cell disease genotype SC (HbSC) and cirrhosis secondary to autoimmune hepatitis who underwent liver transplant. His postoperative course included upper extremity deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolus, stroke via a patent foramen ovale after a line removal, and posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome. Fortunately, he is alive with a functioning graft at 10 months after liver transplant. This case highlights the feasibility of liver transplant in sickle cell disease given the support of meticulous multidisciplinary care and the unique aspects of autoimmune hepatitis an...

Cervicocerebral atherosclerosis and its hepatic and coronary risk factors in patients with liver cirrhosis
CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggest that LC confers protection against intracranial atherosclerosis, and that thrombocytopenia may be involved in this protection. High CAC score could serve as a potential surrogate for cervicocerebral vascular screening in asymptomatic cirrhotics.PMID:34637612 | DOI:10.3350/cmh.2021.0202
