Role of atherosclerosis, clot extent, and penumbra volume in headache during ischemic stroke
Conclusions: Headache in the early phase of ischemic stroke tends to occur less often in patients with atherosclerosis than in patients without atherosclerosis in the large cerebral arteries. This finding lends support to the hypothesis that vessel wall elasticity is a necessary contributing factor in the occurrence of headache during acute ischemic stroke.

Conclusions: Up to date, no data about PCIS and IVT are available from RTCs. Based on limited results from retrospective clinical studies and case series, IVT is safer for use in PCIS than in ACIS. Patients with brainstem ischemia, vertebral artery occlusion, and absence of basilar or posterior cerebral artery occlusion could be considered for treatment with IVT even in borderline cases. Direct and Indirect Cost Burden of Stroke Mimics Post Intravenous Tissue Plasminogen Activator (IV-tPA): A Single Center Study (P3.103)
CONCLUSIONS:This study reveals that stroke mimics can have significant cost burden on health care system; mainly from the cost of IV-tPA and higher level of care. Stroke Mimics in the Acute Setting: Role of Multimodal CT Protocol ADULT BRAIN
CONCLUSIONS: Multimodal CT demonstrated low sensitivity but high specificity in the diagnosis of stroke mimics in the acute setting. The high specificity of multimodal CT allows ruling out stroke and thereby avoiding unnecessary revascularization treatment in patients with diagnosis of a stroke mimic.
