Effect and safety of C7 neurotomy at the intervertebral foramen in patients with chronic poststroke aphasia: a multicentre, randomised, controlled study protocol
This study will explore the efficacy of NC7 at the intervertebral foramen for improving chronic poststroke aphasia. Methods and analysis This study protocol reports a multicentre, randomised, assessor-blinded active-controlled trial. A total of 50 patients with chronic poststroke aphasia for over 1 year and with a aphasia quotient calculated by Western Aphasia Battery Aphasia Quotient (WAB-AQ) score below 93.8 will be recruited. Using experience-based codesign to coproduce aphasia rehabilitation services: study protocol
We present a protocol for the development of coproduced aphasia service elements. We will use experience-based codesign (EBCD), an approach that enables service users and providers to collaboratively develop services and care pathways. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for improving aphasia in adults with aphasia after stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Currently there is no evidence of the effectiveness of tDCS (anodal tDCS, cathodal tDCS and Dual-tDCS) versus control (sham tDCS) for improving functional communication in people with aphasia after stroke (low quality of evidence). However, there is limited evidence that tDCS may improve naming performance in naming nouns (moderate quality of evidence), but not verbs (very low quality of evidence) at the end of the intervention period and possibly also at follow-up. Asymptomatic Carotid Stenosis Is Associated With Circadian and Other Variability in Embolus Detection

Music interventions for acquired brain injury.
CONCLUSIONS: Music interventions may be beneficial for gait, the timing of upper extremity function, communication outcomes, and quality of life after stroke. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for improving aphasia in patients with aphasia after stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Currently there is no evidence of the effectiveness of tDCS (anodal tDCS, cathodal tDCS and bihemispheric tDCS) versus control (sham tDCS) for improving functional communication, language impairment and cognition in people with aphasia after stroke. Further RCTs are needed in this area to determine the effectiveness of this intervention. Authors of future research should adhere to the CONSORT Statement. I just got back from the North Dakota Mission: Lifeline STEMI and Acute Stroke Conference in Bismark, ND. I had a great time and I learned a lot. I often get asked to speak in various venues about acute STEMI and 12-lead ECG interpretation, but for this conference they wanted me to talk mostly about stroke.
