Causal relationship between Alzheimer's disease and cardiovascular disease: a bidirectional Mendelian randomization analysis
This study applied a two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization method to explore the causal relationship between CVD and AD. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) data from 46 datasets of European populations (21,982 cases of AD and 41,944 controls) were utilized to obtain genetic instrumental variables for AD. Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 gene ( < em > FLT1 < /em > ) longevity variant increases lifespan by reducing mortality risk posed by hypertension
In conclusion, the longevity-associated genotype of FLT1 may confer increased lifespan by protecting against mortality risk posed by hypertension. Associations Between Korean Coronary Heart Disease Risk Score and Cognitive Function in Dementia-Free Korean Older Adults
CONCLUSION: Individuals with high cardiovascular risk were associated with poorer cognitive function than those with low risk, especially older women.
