Acute aortic occlusion in a patient without risk factors
A 94-year-old female with a history of ischemic stroke, mild right hemiparesis, vascular dementia, breast cancer with right mastectomy, colon cancer resulting in colectomy, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension presented to the emergency department (ED) with bilateral leg pain. Patient had no smoking history, and her medications included Donepezil, Aspirin, Citalopram, Losartan, and Pantoprazole.

Aspirin Resistance: Risk Factors and Prognostic Significance in Patients with Cerebral Small Vessel Disease.
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of AR was high and similar among the patients with LS, VaD, and VaP due to CSVD. Higher 24-h MAP and TG were independently related to the risk of AR. Conclusion This larger set of observational data finds that PPI drugs are associated with an increase in the risk of early death compared with either H2 blockers or no acid suppression drugs. Osteoporosis as an independent risk factor for silent brain infarction and white matter changes in men and women: the PRESENT project
Conclusions Severe bone mass loss may be an independent risk factor for brain WMC/SI in men and women. Low BMD may cause brain WMC/SI in the step that leads to stroke. Although there are well-designed studies on the prevention of cerebral infarction in patients with brain WMC/SI, a specific prevention method, such as aspirin, should be used for patients with low BMD who have WMC/SI. Screening for low BMD as an independent vascular risk factor in healthy subjects may be required to prevent stroke.
