Anticholinergic Burden and Cognitive Impairment in Nursing Homes: A Comparison of Four Anticholinergic Scales
ConclusionsThe cumulative effect of medications with modest antimuscarinic activity may influence the cognitive performance of NH residents. The anticholinergic burden measured with the ACB scale should help identify NH residents who may benefit from reducing the anticholinergic burden.A clear direct relationship between anticholinergic burden and cognitive impairment was found only for the ACB Scale.

Estimate of the prevalence of subjects with chronic diseases in a province of Northern Italy: a retrospective study based on administrative databases
Conclusions Despite the difficulty of having a unique definition of chronic disease, the prevalence obtained was coherent with the estimates reported by other national surveillance systems such as Passi and Passi d’Argento. Underestimates were observed when international comparisons were done; however, when we used less stringent definitions of chronic diseases, similar results were obtained.

A view of care pathways approved by Italian Regions, to face the challenge of the community-based healthcare: a quali-quantitative analysis of the Pdta Net database.
CONCLUSIONS: The high number of CPs approved in Italy confirms an increasing interest of the healthcare institutions. The collected CPs show an extreme variety of titles, text structures and disease choices. Given the absence of an institutional observatory and of devotees of shared and harmonized CPs, annually Pdta Net makes available an updated and complete overview of these governance tools, which are essential for the upcoming changes of the Italian national health service.PMID:36573531 | DOI:10.1701/3939.39228

Comorbidity status of deceased COVID-19 in-patients in Italy
CONCLUSION: In those deceased in-hospital due to COVID-19 in Italy, disease combinations defined by multiple cardio-respiratory, metabolic, and neuropsychiatric diseases occur more frequently than expected.
