Spontaneous cervical epidural haematoma mimicking stroke: a  case report and literature review
Folia Neuropathol. 2022;60(2):261-265. doi: 10.5114/fn.2022.116940.ABSTRACTSpontaneous spinal epidural haematoma (SSEH) is a rare disease that requires emergency decompression or haematoma evacuation to prevent permanent neurological deficits. Hemiparesis is an extremely rare presentation of SSEH, commonly misdiagnosed as stroke. With the help of case studies and references, this paper comprehensively discusses the effective methods to distinguish SSEH from stroke and provides theoretical support and ideas for rapid and accurate identification of SSEH. Herein, we report on the case of a 51-year-old man with SSEH who presen...

Retrograde recanalisation for vertebral artery stump syndrome: a case report
Stroke Vasc Neurol. 2022 Mar 30:svn-2021-001407. doi: 10.1136/svn-2021-001407. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVertebral artery stump syndrome (VASS) is a rare disease associated with a posterior circulation stroke after vertebral artery origin occlusion. We have herein presented a case of VASS that was effectively treated with endovascular intervention using retrograde recanalisation and the mechanism of VASS in our patient was thought to be a thrombus formed by stagnating flow.PMID:35354663 | DOI:10.1136/svn-2021-001407

The neurovascular unit in leukodystrophies: towards solving the puzzle
AbstractThe neurovascular unit (NVU) is a highly organized multicellular system localized in the brain, formed by neuronal, glial (astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, and microglia) and vascular (endothelial cells and pericytes) cells. The blood –brain barrier, a complex and dynamic endothelial cell barrier in the brain microvasculature that separates the blood from the brain parenchyma, is a component of the NVU. In a variety of neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and stroke, dysfunctions of the N VU occurs. There is, however, a lack of knowledge regarding the NVU function in leukodyst...

Basilar artery trunk aneurysm: clinical and angiographic outcomes of endovascular treatment
Conclusions EVT might be a feasible option for this rare disease entity. Unfavorable angiographic outcome might be expected in a large/giant aneurysm or a long lesion. It can be difficult to treat BA trunk aneurysms by EVT, needing multiple procedures or various techniques due to diverse clinical and angiographic features.
