Incidence and Clinical Impact of Major Bleeding Following Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion: Insights from the Amplatzer â„¢ Amuletâ„¢ LAA Occluder Observational Study.
CONCLUSIONS: In real-world patients at high bleeding risk, MB following LAAO was not uncommon and associated with a significant increase in mortality, without increasing the risk of stroke. PMID: 33495144 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Impact of Pulmonary Ridge Coverage after Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion.
CONCLUSIONS: Pulmonary ridge coverage was associated with a lower incidence of DRT after LAAO. Procedural and follow-up clinical outcomes did not differ among covered-PR and uncovered-PR patients. PMID: 33164895 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Predictors of Non-Stenting Strategy for Acute Coronary Syndrome Caused by Plaque Erosion: 4-Year Outcomes of the EROSION Study.
CONCLUSIONS: Four-year follow-up findings reconfirmed the safety of an anti-thrombotic therapy without stenting for erosion-caused acute coronary syndrome. Patients with better response to anti-thrombotic therapy in the first month were less likely to require stent implantation during the next four years. PMID: 33164894 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Deep Sedation versus General Anaesthesia for Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair: An Individual-Patient Data Meta-analysis of Observational Studies.
CONCLUSIONS: Both, DS and GA might offer a similar safety profile. However, ICU stay seems to be shorter after DS. PMID: 33046436 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

A Prospective, Multicenter, Randomized, Open-label Trial to Compare Efficacy and Safety of Clopidogrel vs. Ticagrelor in Stabilized Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction after Percutan eous Coronary Intervention: rationale and design of the TALOS-AMI trial.
CONCLUSIONS: The TALOS-AMI trial is the first large-scale, multicenter, randomized study exploring the efficacy and safety of the de-escalating antiplatelet therapy that switches ticagrelor to clopidogrel in stabilized AMI patients undergoing PCI. PMID: 32718912 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: Almost one third of OHCA patients undergoing PCI die and more than one third of the fatalities are attributable to cardiovascular causes. The burden of ischemic and bleeding complications was consistently higher and the success rates of PCI lower among OHCA as compared to non-OHCA patients. PMID: 32624462 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Ticagrelor alone or conventional dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with stable or acute coronary syndromes.
CONCLUSIONS: Ticagrelor monotherapy after 1-month DAPT provided consistent treatment effects on ischemic endpoints in patients with or without ACS but only the former experienced a net clinical benefit. Trial registration ClinicalTrials.gov number NCT03231059. PMID: 32482616 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Transaxillary compared with transcarotid access for TAVR: a propensity-matched comparison from a French multicenter registry.
CONCLUSIONS: One-month mortality, 1-month stroke/TIA and 1-year mortality are similar with TAx and TC TAVR. However TC-TAVR is accompanied by more minor bleeding and main access hematoma compared with the transaxillary route. PMID: 32310129 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Meta-Analysis of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation Versus Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement in patients at Low Surgical Risk.
CONCLUSIONS: in patients who are at low surgical risk, TAVI seems to be associated with equivalent mortality up to a median follow up of 2 years compared to SAVR. More data is required before TAVI can be routinely considered as an alternative for SAVR in low risk patients. PMID: 31566571 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Final results of the Randomised Evaluation of short-term DUal antiplatelet therapy in patients with acute Coronary syndromE treated with a new generation stent (REDUCE) trial.
CONCLUSIONS: The results show that among ACS patients treated with COMBO, 3 months is non-inferior to 12 months DAPT. However, given the numerically higher rates of mortality and ST in the 3 months DAPT group, 1-year DAPT should still be recommended in ACS until more information becomes available. A 3 months DAPT strategy should be considered only if clinically mandated. PMID: 31422929 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Comparative Effectiveness Analysis of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention vs. Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease and Unprotected Left Main Coronary Artery Disease :Insights From a Large-Sized All-Comers Registry.
CONCLUSIONS: The degree of renal insufficiency was proportionately associated with unfavorable outcomes in patients with LMCAD. In group 3, PCI was associated with a higher risk of MACCE compared with CABG. Also, the effect of PCI vs. CABG on MACCE was consistent, with PCI being associated less bleeding and CABG being associated with less repeat revascularization. Transcarotid Route: the Ideal Alternative Access for TAVI?
CONCLUSIONS: The transcarotid route for TAVI is reproducible and associated with low rates of adverse neurological events, access-related complications and bleeding complications. Routine use of locoregional anesthesia is feasible. Careful surgical management of the common carotid artery is pivotal. PMID: 31186217 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Standard versus ultrasound-guided radial and femoral access in coronary angiography and intervention (SURF): a randomised controlled trial.
CONCLUSIONS: Transradial access significantly reduced the composite outcome compared to transfemoral access. Ultrasound guidance did not reduce the primary outcome compared to the standard technique, but significantly improved the efficiency and overall success rate of arterial access. PMID: 31113763 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Diabetes and Outcomes following Guided De-Escalation of Antiplatelet Treatment in Acute Coronary Syndrome Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Prespecified Analysis from the Randomized TROPICAL-ACS Trial.
CONCLUSIONS: Although diabetic status did not significantly interfere with treatment effects of guided DAPT de-escalation, our results suggest that this approach might be safe and effective in non-diabetic patients, whilst further investigation is definitely warranted in diabetic patients.
