Abstract Identification of specific biomarkers for ischemic stroke is necessary due to their abilities to improve treatment outcomes. Novel therapeutic transplantation of induced neural stem cells for stroke.
In this study, we used a mouse model of transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO). iNSCs (5 × 105) were injected directly into the ipsilateral striatum and cortex 24 hours after tMCAO. Histological analysis was performed at 7 days, 28 days, and 8 months after tMCAO. We found that iNSC transplantation successfully improved the survival rate of stroke model mice with significant functional recovery from the stroke. Transplantation of human dental pulp-derived stem cells protects against heat stroke in mice.
In conclusion, post-WBH treatment with SHED reduced induction of pro-inflammatory cytokines and oxidative radicals, enhanced plasma induction of both adrenocorticotrophic hormone and corticosterone, and improved lethality in mice heat stroke. The protective effect of SHED may be related to a decreased inflammatory response, a decreased oxidative stress, and an increased hypothalamo-pituitaryadrenocortical axis activity following the WBH injury. Final Results of Allogeneic Adipose Tissue-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Acute Ischemic Stroke (AMASCIS): A Phase II, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Single-Center, Pilot Clinical Trial
We report the final trial results after 24 months of follow-up. Recruitment began in December 2014 and stopped in December 2017 after 19 of 20 planned patients were included. Six patients did not receive study treatment: two due to technical issues and four for acquiring exclusion criteria after randomization. The final study sample was composed of 13 patients (4 receiving AD-MSCs and 9 placebo). One patient in the placebo group died within the first week after study treatment delivery due to sepsis. β2-Microglobulin exacerbates neuroinflammation, brain damage, and cognitive impairment after stroke in rats
In this study, we established a rat model of focal cerebral ischemia by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery. We found that β2M levels in the cerebral spinal fluid, serum, and brain tissue were significantly increased in the acute period but gradually decreased during the recovery period.
