Dual pathway inhibition for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease: Recent advances
Kardiol Pol. 2022;80(12):1200-1210. doi: 10.33963/KP.a2022.0283.ABSTRACTAtherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), which includes coronary artery disease (CAD), cerebrovascular disease, and peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is associated with significant morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Antiplatelet therapy has long been the mainstay of antithrombotic therapy for the prevention of first-ever and recurrent ASCVD events. More recently, however, randomized trials have demonstrated the benefits and cost-effectiveness of a dual pathway inhibition (DPI) strategy in acute and chronic ASCVD. When used in combinatio...

Evaluation and subgroup analysis of the efficacy and safety of intensive rosuvastatin therapy combined with dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionsWithout increasing bleeding and statin-associated adverse events, intensive rosuvastatin therapy plus 7-day DAPT significantly reduced the risk of recurrent stroke, especially for subgroups with high-risk factors.Clinical trial registration. Treatment of progressive ischemic stroke with low ‑dose eptifibatide: A retrospective case‑control study
Exp Ther Med. 2022 Nov 22;25(1):22. doi: 10.3892/etm.2022.11721. eCollection 2023 Jan.ABSTRACTProgressive ischemic stroke (PIS) is a therapeutic challenge in clinical practice. The present retrospective study aimed to investigate the safety and effectiveness of eptifibatide in the treatment of PIS. The present study enrolled patients with PIS admitted to Xiangtan Central Hospital (Xiangtan, China) between March 2020 and March 2021 with National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) progression scores of ≥2 points during the initial 72 h. Patients were then divided into two groups according to their different anti-pla...

Cardiovascular Outcomes Observed with Ticagrelor versus Clopidogrel in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome: A Meta-analysis
ConclusionsIn these T2DM patients with ACS, a significantly lower risk of major adverse cardiovascular events including all-cause mortality was observed in the ticagrelor group compared with the clopidogrel group. However, T2DM patients who were assigned to ticagrelor showed a significantly higher minor bleeding risk. Larger clinical trials should be able to confirm these hypotheses.

Aminotransferase Level and the Effects of Dual Antiplatelet in Minor Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack: A post hoc Analysis of a Randomized Control Trial
Conclusions: Dual antiplatelet treatment was safe for minor stroke or high-risk TIA patients with mildly elevated aminotransferase. Mild elevation of ALT or AST did not undermine the protective efficacy of the dual antiplatelet regimen in reducing recurrent stroke or TIA within 90 days after MIS or TIA. The interaction between the CYP2C19 loss-of-function allele carrier status and aminotransferase level on the efficacy of dual antiplatelet treatment was not observed.Cerebrovasc Dis
