Neuroprotective Effects of Geopung-Chunghyuldan Based on Its Salvianolic Acid B Content Using an In Vivo Stroke Model
CONCLUSIONS: The salvianolic acid B content of Salviae miltiorrhizae Radix affects the neuroprotection effect of GCD. Stable, raw Salviae miltiorrhizae Radix is essential for GCD homogenization.PMID:36826049 | PMC:PMC9955915 | DOI:10.3390/cimb45020104

Colchicine and high-intensity rosuvastatin in the treatment of non-critically ill patients hospitalised with COVID-19: a randomised clinical trial
Conclusions In this small, open-label, randomised trial of non-critically ill hospitalised patients with COVID-19, the combination of colchicine and rosuvastatin in addition to standard of care did not appear to reduce the risk of progression of COVID-19 disease or thromboembolic events, although the trial was underpowered due to a lower-than-expected event rate. The trial leveraged the power of electronic medical records for efficiency and improved follow-up and demonstrates the utility of incorporating electronic medical records into future trials. Trial registration NCT04472611.

Early identification and treatment for peripheral arterial disease in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease
AbstractIschemic cerebrovascular disease (ICVD) is a major cause of mortality and disability worldwide and is often caused by atherosclerosis. As a systemic disease, atherosclerosis usually affects multiple vascular beds, mainly including cerebral, coronary, and peripheral arteries. Therefore, ICVD is easily complicated by lower-extremity peripheral arterial disease (PAD). ICVD patients  with PAD have more serious symptoms and a worse prognosis, however, neurologists might neglect the evaluation and management of the coexistent PAD, and there is still a lack of consensuses about the diagnosis and treatment for such patie...

Safety outcomes of anti-platelet therapy post coronary artery bypass graft surgery: A systematic review and network meta-analysis of randomized control trials
CONCLUSION: No significant difference was found between monotherapy or dual-antiplatelet therapy for the major bleeding risk safety outcome, however DAPT was found to have a significantly higher rate of minor bleeding complications post-CABG. DAPT should be considered as the antiplatelet modality of choice post-CABG.PMID:36803180 | DOI:10.1177/02676591231159513

A hybrid automated event adjudication system for clinical trials
CONCLUSION: The automated event adjudication system in combination with human adjudicators provides a streamlined and efficient approach to event adjudication in clinical trials. To immediately apply automated event adjudication, one can first consider the automated event adjudication system and involve human assistance for cases unconfirmed by the former.PMID:36734212 | DOI:10.1177/17407745221149222

Monitoring antiplatelet therapy: where are we now?
J Cardiovasc Med (Hagerstown). 2022 Dec 15. doi: 10.2459/JCM.0000000000001406. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSingle antiplatelet therapy represents the cornerstone of thrombosis prevention in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT), consisting of aspirin plus a P2Y12 inhibitor, is the standard of care for patients with acute coronary syndrome or undergoing both coronary and peripheral percutaneous interventions. Recent data suggest the efficacy of DAPT also after minor stroke. In this setting, a large body of evidence has documented that genetic and acquired patients' characteristics may af...

Gender differences in cardiovascular risk, treatment, and outcomes: a post hoc analysis from the REWIND trial
Conclusions. In REWIND, most women met clinically relevant treatment targets, but in lower proportions than men. Women had a lower risk for all cardiovascular outcomes except stroke. Clinical trials.gov registration number: NCT01394952.PMID:36723445 | DOI:10.1080/14017431.2023.2166101
