One-Year Outcome of Patients with Chest Pain in the Rule-Out Group According to the 0-Hour/1-Hour Algorithm
Int Heart J. 2023;64(4):590-595. doi: 10.1536/ihj.23-076.ABSTRACTThe European Society of Cardiology recommends the 0/1-hour algorithm for risk stratification of patients with suspected non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction as class I, level B; however, there are few reports on the long-term prognosis, resulting in a rule-out group. We aimed to determine whether implementation of the 0-hour/1-hour algorithm is safe and effective in emergency department (ED) patients with possible acute coronary syndrome (ACS) through a 1-year follow-up period. Our study analyzed the 1-year follow-up data from a prospective pre-post study o...

Elevated Aminotransferase Levels and Intracerebral Hemorrhage Deaths in a General Japanese Population
Int Heart J. 2023;64(4):678-683. doi: 10.1536/ihj.23-027.ABSTRACTAlthough chronic liver disease has been associated with cardiovascular disease, to which metabolic syndrome might be related, intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) generally has not been focused. Associations of chronic liver disease assessed by aspartate (AST) and alanine (ALT) aminotransferase levels with ICH deaths were examined using 15,952 subjects without a history of cardiovascular disease who underwent annual health checkups in 1997 in Japan. Proportional hazards regression analyses adjusted for age, sex, hypertension, current smoking, diabetes mellitus, dri...

O-009 Projected increase in thrombectomy volume based on large core trials
ConclusionOur preliminary analyses demonstrate that expansion of eligibility criteria for LIS would result in an increase in EVT cases from lower end 4136(14%increase) to 11078(37%increase) on higher end. These estimates and further analyses into how these increased number of cases would affect current systems of care and would help guide the long-term planning and policy decisions.Abstract O-009 Figure 1Disclosures O. P-007 Thrombectomy techniques alter the pathology of harvested clots
ConclusionThe pathological evaluation of the retrieved clot can be affected by the original clot type and the type of mechanical thrombectomy. These differences in changes in clot pathology need to be recognized for stroke research.Abstract P-007 Figure 1Disclosures T. Predictors of Survival in Patients With Ischemic Stroke and Active Cancer: A Prospective, Multicenter, Observational Study
Conclusions The prognosis of patients with acute ischemic stroke and active cancer varied considerably depending on stroke mechanism, distant metastasis, and coagulation abnormalities. The present study confirmed that coagulation abnormalities were crucial in determining the prognosis of such patients.PMID:37489755 | DOI:10.1161/JAHA.123.029618

Relationship Between Direct Oral Anticoagulant Doses and Clinical Outcomes in Elderly Patients With Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation - ANAFIE Registry Sub-Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Inappropriate low DOAC doses (under- or off-label dose) were not associated with stroke/SEE or major bleeding but were associated with all-cause death.PMID:37482411 | DOI:10.1253/circj.CJ-23-0143

Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers for adults with early (stage 1 to 3) non-diabetic chronic kidney disease
CONCLUSIONS: There is currently insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of ACEi or ARB in patients with stage 1 to 3 CKD who do not have DM. The available evidence is overall of very low certainty and high risk of bias. We have identified an area of large uncertainty for a group of patients who account for most of those diagnosed as having CKD.PMID:37466151 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD007751.pub3
