Observation of the Curative Effect of the Dexamethasone Vitreous Cavity Implant for the Treatment of Irvine-Gass Syndrome
CONCLUSION: The dexamethasone vitreous cavity implant (Ozurdex) is a safe and effective treatment, which can effectively improve patient's visual acuity and reduce macular edema associated with cataract surgery.PMID:37711084 | DOI:10.3967/bes2023.084

Resistance exercise alleviates dexamethasone-induced muscle atrophy via Sestrin2/MSTN pathway in C57BL/6J mice
CONCLUSION: Taken together, our results indicated that Sestrin2 may serve as an effective molecule that mimics the protective effect of resistance exercise on dexamethasone-induced muscle atrophy.PMID:37709247 | DOI:10.1016/j.yexcr.2023.113779

Prognostic factors for poor outcomes in patients with severe COVID-19 treated with remdesivir plus dexamethasone in Taiwan
CONCLUSION: High disease severity on admission and delayed initiation of remdesivir therapy were associated with poor outcomes in COVID-19 patients treated with remdesivir and dexamethasone.PMID:37696685 | DOI:10.1016/j.jmii.2023.08.008

Klf9 plays a critical role in GR -dependent metabolic adaptations in cardiomyocytes
We examined the role of Krüppel-like factor 9 (Klf9), an early direct target of GR in cardiomyocytes. Klf9-ChIPseq identified 2150 genes that showed an increase in Klf9 binding in response to Dex. Transcriptome analysis of Dex treated cardiomyocytes with or without knockdown of Klf9 revealed differential regulation of 1777 genes, of which a reversal in expression is seen in 1640 genes with knockdown of Klf9 compared to Dex. Conversely, only 137 (~8%) genes show further dysregulation in expression with siKLf9 as seen with Dex treated cardiomyocytes. Functional annotation identified genes of metabolic pathways on the top of...

Unveiling pro-angiogenesis and drug delivery using dual-bio polymer with bio-ceramic based nanocomposite hydrogels
Chemosphere. 2023 Sep 8:140131. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2023.140131. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn regenerative medicine, blood vessel development is of utmost importance as it enables the restoration of blood flow to tissues, and facilitate rapid vascularization in clinical tissue-engineered grafts. Herein, we fabricate the nanocomposite hydrogels from BG, alginate, Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Dexamethasone (DEX) for the dual applications of drug delivery and angiogenesis assay. The hydrogels were fabricated through cross-linking approach and termed as alginate/PEG (A), alginate/PEG/clinophosinaite (AC), and algin...
