Targeted regulation of Rell2 by microRNA-18a is implicated in the anti-metastatic effect of polyphyllin VI in breast cancer cells.
Abstract Polyphyllin VI (PP-VI) is one of the major saponins present in Paris polyphylla Sm., a medicinal plant primarily used for cancer treatment in China and India. However, its anti-metastatic activity remains largely unknown. The current study thus investigated the anti-metastatic activity of PP-VI in mouse mammary carcinoma 4T1 and human breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells. The anti-metastatic effect of PP-VI was investigated at a sub-cytotoxic dose in migration and invasion assays in vitro. Experimental metastasis mouse model was used to examine the anti-metastatic effect of PP-VI in vivo. Additionally, target p...

In vitro inhibitory properties of sesquiterpenes from Chloranthus serratus on cell motility via down-regulation of LIMK1 activation in human breast cancer
Conclusioncollectively, it was concluded that SERA exhibited significant inhibitory effects on breast cancer cells migration, and these effects of this sesquiterpene are due to its properties reducing the activation of LIM kinase 1.Graphical Abstract

Taraxacum mongolicum extract induced endoplasmic reticulum stress associated-apoptosis in triple-negative breast cancer cells
Conclusion ER stress related cell apoptosis accounted for the anti-cancer effect of dandelion extract, and these findings support dandelion extract might be a potential therapeutic approach to treat TNBC. Graphical abstract

SH003 selectively induces p73 ‑dependent apoptosis in triple‑negative breast cancer cells.
SH003 selectively induces p73‑dependent apoptosis in triple‑negative breast cancer cells. Mol Med Rep. 2016 Sep 6; Authors: Choi EK, Kim SM, Hong SW, Moon JH, Shin JS, Kim JH, Hwang IY, Jung SA, Lee DH, Lee EY, Lee S, Kim H, Kim D, Kim YS, Choi YK, Kim HI, Choi HS, Cho SG, Kim JE, Kim KP, Hong YS, Lee WK, Lee JS, Kim TW, Ko SG, Jin DH Abstract Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a breast cancer subtype that has an aggressive phenotype, is highly metastatic, has limited treatment options and is associated with a poor prognosis. In addition, metastatic TNBC has no preferred standard chemotherapy ...

Par‐4 dependent modulation of cellular β‐catenin by medicinal plant natural product derivative 3‐azido Withaferin A
This study, for the first time, reveals 3‐AWA treatment consistently sequestered nuclear β‐catenin and augmented its cytoplasmic pool as evidenced by reducing β‐catenin transcriptional activity in these cells. Moreover, 3‐AWA treatment triggered robust induction of pro‐apoptotic intracellular Par‐4, attenuated Akt activity and rescued Phospho‐GSK3β (by Akt) to promote β‐catenin destabilization. Further, our in vitro studies demonstrate that 3‐AWA treatment amplified E‐cadherin expression along with sharp downregulation of c‐Myc and cyclin D1 proteins. Strikingly, endogenous Par‐4 knock down by s...
