Conclusion: These assays are suitable for routine diagnostic. The UltraFast NextGenPCR is the fastest with average time (30mins), followed by Agilent (2 hrs) and MassArray (6hrs). Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to examine, measure and compare results from different assays for SARS detection, evaluate and diagnose accurately, as well as being able to plan, organize and recommend a diagnostic procedure for diagnostic laboratory. Key words: SARS-CoV-2, RNA extraction, RT-PCR, limit of detection, quantification cycle, COVID-19, in vitro diagnostic tests, Agilent, Massarray, Ultrafast. [20] From t...

IGF-1R stimulation alters microglial polarization via TLR4/NF- κB pathway after cerebral hemorrhage in mice.
In this study, we examined the impact of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) secreted by NSCs on microglial polarization following ICH in adult C57BL/6 mice. Mouse models of ICH were established by collagenase injection. ICH mice received NSC transplantation after one hour. Firstly, the changes of microglial polarization in cerebral tissues of ICH mice were detected by immunofluorescence and ELISA. Secondly, the molecular mechanism underlying the microglial polarization was evaluated repeatedly with the application of IGF-1R siRNA and IGF-1R-mediated inhibition. We assessed the brain water content and behavioral deficits ...

Connecting Metainflammation and Neuroinflammation Through the PTN-MK-RPTP β/ζ Axis: Relevance in Therapeutic Development
Conclusion The expression of the components of the PTN-MK-RPTPβ/ζ axis in immune cells and in inflammatory diseases suggests important roles for this axis in inflammation. Pleiotrophin has been recently identified as a limiting factor of metainflammation, a chronic pathological state that contributes to neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. Pleiotrophin also seems to potentiate acute neuroinflammation independently of the inflammatory stimulus while MK seems to play different -even opposite- roles in acute neuroinflammation depending on the stimulus. Which are the functions of MK and PTN in chronic neuroi...

Ischemia/reperfusion-induced upregulation of TIGAR in brain is mediated by SP1 and modulated by ROS and hormones involved in glucose metabolism
Publication date: Available online 4 November 2014 Source:Neurochemistry International Author(s): Meiling Sun , Mei Li , Qiao Huang , Feng Han , Jin-hua Gu , Jiaming Xie , Rong Han , Zheng-Hong Qin , Zhipeng Zhou We previously found that TIGAR (TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator) was upregulated in response to ischemia/reperfusion insult in a TP53-independent manner. The present study sought to investigate the regulatory mechanisms of TIGAR upregulation in animal and cellular models of stroke. The animal and cellular models of ischemia/reperfusion were produced by transient middle cerebral artery occlusion a...
