Chaperone Mediated Autophagy Protects Cardiomyocytes Against Hypoxic-Cell Death
This study for the first time establishes a protective role for CMA (via Lamp2a overexpression) against hypoxia-induced cardiomyocyte loss and reveals the intriguing possibility that CMA activation may offer a cardioprotective treatment for ischemic heart disease.PMID:35584327 | DOI:10.1152/ajpcell.00369.2021

Mechanisms of Niemann Pick type C1 Like 1 Protein Degradation in Intestinal Epithelial Cells.
In conclusion, our results showed that basal level of intestinal cholesterol transporter NPC1L1 protein is modulated by both ubiquitin-proteasome and lysosome-dependent degradation as well as by ERK1/2-dependent pathway. The modulation of these pathways may provide novel clues for therapeutic intervention to inhibit cholesterol absorption and lower plasma cholesterol.
