Prevalence of and factors influencing depression and anxiety among Chinese adolescents: a protocol for a systematic review
Introduction Depression and anxiety are common mental health disorders among adolescents and negatively impact their physical and mental health. Depression and anxiety also exert a tremendous economic burden to society. But in China, there is no systematic review to state the exact prevalence of adolescent depression and anxiety; there is also a lack of systematic reviews of factors that influence depression and anxiety. Hence, in this systematic review, we aim to summarise the current evidence of the prevalence of and factors influencing depression and anxiety among Chinese adolescents. Methods and analysis This protocol...

Neostigmine for the treatment of acute pancreatitis: a protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis
Introduction Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a common disease with substantial mortality. Gut dysfunction may result in abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) and delay enteral nutrition, worsening AP condition. Neostigmine is used as a prokinetic drug for the treatment of AP. But there are no recommendations from guidelines due to the lack of evidence. Therefore, we plan to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the efficacy and safety of neostigmine for AP, aiming to provide current evidence for clinical practice. Methods and analysis We prepared this protocol following the Preferred Reporting Items for Syste...

Smoking cessation interventions for US adults with disabilities: protocol for a systematic review
Introduction People with disabilities have a higher prevalence of cigarette smoking than people without disabilities. However, little information exists on smoking cessation interventions tailored to address the unique needs of people with disabilities. This paper describes a systematic review protocol to identify and evaluate tobacco smoking cessation interventions designed to improve outcomes for people with disabilities. Methods and analysis We will conduct a systematic review of the literature using the procedures outlined by Cochrane. We will search four electronic databases (CINAHL Plus (EBSCO), Embase (Ovid), Medli...

Examining the experiences of Indigenous families seeking health information about caring for sick or injured children: a scoping review
Conclusion Indigenous families perceive they do not have access to necessary child health information, which can lead to insensitive, ineffective and unsafe healthcare. A critical gap exists in understanding Indigenous families’ information needs and preferences when making decisions about children’s health.

Associations between plant-based diets, plant foods and botanical supplements with gestational diabetes mellitus: a systematic review protocol
Introduction Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one of the most common health complications during pregnancy. Medical nutrition therapy is the mainstay of treatment for GDM, however, there is no current consensus on optimal dietary approaches to prevent or control hyperglycaemia in pregnancy. The aim of this systematic review is to assess the relationships between plant-based dietary patterns, plant foods and botanical dietary supplements with GDM and maternal glycaemic biomarkers. Methods and analysis A predefined search strategy was used on 16 June 2021, to search PubMed, Embase and CINAHL Plus with Full Text (EBSCO...

A Systematic review protocol on workplace equality and inclusion practices in the healthcare sector
Introduction While equality and inclusion practices in healthcare have been advanced from a service user perspective, little is known about the application of workplace equality and inclusion practices in healthcare on upper-middle-income and high-income countries. In the developed world, the composition of the healthcare workforce is changing, with nationals and non-nationals working ‘side-by-side’ suggesting that healthcare organisations must have robust and meaningful workplace equality and inclusion practices. Healthcare organisations who welcome and value all their employees are more creative and productiv...

Allostatic load in opioid use disorder: a scoping review protocol
Introduction Opioid use disorder affects 2.1 million individuals in the USA, causing more than 100 000 overdose-related deaths annually. While the neurobiological model of addiction is well described and accepted, there is a lack of morbidity and mortality prognosticators for patients struggling with opioid use disorder. Allostatic load index is a promising candidate for the basis of a prognostication tool. Previous studies show that allostatic load predicts both morbidity and mortality in a variety of cohorts. This scoping review protocol provides the rationale and steps for summarising and presenting existing evidence su...

Use of qualitative systems mapping and causal loop diagrams to understand food environments, diet and obesity: a scoping review protocol
The objectives of this review are to scope the extent and nature of studies using qualitative systems mapping to facilitate the development of CLDs by stakeholders to understand food environments, including settings and populations represented, key findings and the methodological processes employed. It also seeks to identify gaps in knowledge and implications for policy and practice. Methods and analysis This protocol describes a scoping review guided by the Joanna Briggs Institute manual, the framework by Khalil and colleagues and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scopin...

Novel patient-centred outcome in cancer care, days at home: a scoping review protocol
Introduction Patient-centred care is valued by patients and providers. As management of cancer becomes increasingly complex, the value of providing care that incorporates an individual’s values and preferences along with demographic and tumour factors is increasingly important. To improve care, patients with cancer need easily accessible information on the outcomes important to them. The patient-centred outcome, days at home (DAH), is based on a construct that measures the time a patient spends alive and out of hospitals and healthcare institutions. DAH is accurately measured from various data sources and has shown c...

Barriers and facilitators of physical function, activity, sports and exercise in children and adolescents with spinal pain: a protocol for a systematic review and meta-ethnography
Introduction Spinal pain is one of the leading causes of disability, with the incidence of adolescent back pain estimated at 20%. Multiple barriers influence exercise participation in adolescents. However, there remains a lack of literature surrounding patients’ choice to exercise, perceived barriers and facilitators of exercise, and their relationship to participant demographics. The aim of this systematic review with meta-ethnography will be to identify the barriers and facilitators of exercise participation among adolescents with thoracic or lower back pain (LBP). The secondary aim will be to identify any trends i...
