A thermosensitive gel matrix for bioreactor-assisted in-cell NMR of nucleic acids and proteins
J Biomol NMR. 2023 Sep 9. doi: 10.1007/s10858-023-00422-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIntroducing the flow through the bioreactor has revolutionized in-cell NMR spectroscopy by prolonging the measurement time available to acquire spectral information about biomacromolecules in metabolically active cells. Bioreactor technology relies on immobilizer matrices, which secure cells in the active volume of the NMR coil and enable uniform perfusion of the growth medium, supplying fresh nutrients to the cells while removing toxic byproducts of their metabolism. The main drawbacks of commonly used matrices include the inability t...

ICG angiography in prevention of colorectal anastomotic leakage
CONCLUSION: Fluorescent luminescence will qualitatively improve intraoperative diagnosis of hypoperfusion of resection edges. Undoubtedly, this will reduce the incidence of colorectal anastomotic leaks caused by ischemia of large bowel wall.PMID:37682544 | DOI:10.17116/hirurgia202309225

ECMO simulation: How much, who to train, and a review of cost, fidelity and performance
CONCLUSIONS: We designed and implemented a low-cost, monthly and multi-disciplinary ECMO simulation program with overall positive feedback and identified areas for improvement. There remains variability in cost, fidelity and evaluation of performance and retention. There may be a need to create guidelines for ECMO simulation training that can be applied at all institutions utilizing ECMO for patient care.PMID:37684100 | DOI:10.1177/02676591231200988

Elevated HbA1c level associated with disease severity and surgical extension in diabetic foot patients
CONCLUSION: The results of this study showed that as HbA1c values at diagnosis increased in patients with diabetic foot; Wagner/PEDIS grades, disease severity, surgical extension, amputation level, and tissue loss increased. To reduce the severity of diabetic foot disease and prevent amputation, compliance with diabetic treatment and glycemic control should be increased.PMID:37681727 | DOI:10.14744/tjtes.2023.08939

Addition of α-synuclein aggregates to the intestinal environment recapitulates Parkinsonian symptoms in model systems
This study may shed light on the investigation and early intervention of the gut-origin hypothesis in neurodegenerative diseases.PMID:37684382 | DOI:10.1038/s41401-023-01150-2
