Folic acid supplementation improved cognitive deficits associated with lithium administration during pregnancy in rat offspring
CONCLUSION: According to the results, prenatal exposure to a high dose of lithium (30 mg/kg) leads to foetal neurodevelopmental disorder and growth restriction through various mechanisms more likely attributed to hypothyroidism, which means it should be either prohibited or prescribed cautiously during pregnancy.PMID:37582655 | DOI:10.1002/jdn.10289

Multifunctional electrolyte additive for realizing high-temperature and high-voltage lithium metal batteries
Chem Commun (Camb). 2023 Aug 15. doi: 10.1039/d3cc01670f. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMethyl 1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylate (MTC) was added into lithium metal batteries as an electrolyte additive, and not only did this addition lead to formation of solid electrolyte interfaces to protect both the anode and cathode, but the added MTC also served as a Lewis base in removing HF from the electrolyte to prevent the electrolyte from deteriorating. Therefore, the addition of MTC, in an appropriate amount, can be very effective at improving the electrochemical performance of lithium metal batteries.PMID:37580999 | DOI:10.1039/d3cc01670f

Elucidating the lithium deposition behavior in open-porous copper micro-foam negative electrodes for zero-excess lithium metal batteries
J. Mater. Chem. A, 2023, Advance Article DOI: 10.1039/D3TA04060G, PaperTjark T. K. Ingber, Marlena M. Bela, Frederik P üttmann, Jan F. Dohmann, Peter Bieker, Markus Börner, Martin Winter, Marian C. Stan Lithium electrodeposition analysis in 3D Cu micro-foams for use in ZELMBs reveals that large amounts of lithium are stored within the micro-foam's pore structure, limiting the growth of surface lithium structures and improving the battery cycle life. Facile and efficient chitosan-based hygroscopic aerogel for air dehumidification
Int J Biol Macromol. 2023 Aug 11:126191. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2023.126191. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSorption dehumidification, as an energy-saving and eco-friendly approach, has been emerging in application for air dehumidification. Here, a prospective method is proposed to prepare biomass-based hygroscopic aerogels that are easily applicable, sustainable, high-efficient, and recyclable. The chitosan-based aerogel with a porous and hydrophilic network acts as the carrier and water reservoir for the uniformly distributed lithium chloride hygroscopic salt, and provides the hygroscopic salt with more liberal water cha...

Development, optimization and validation of LC-MS/MS method for the determination of DBS GALT enzyme activity
Anal Biochem. 2023 Aug 10;678:115284. doi: 10.1016/j.ab.2023.115284. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGalactosemia is a carbohydrate metabolism disorder often caused by galactose-1-phosphate uridyl transferase (GALT) deficiency. Detecting GALT deficiency involves measuring intra-erythrocyte enzyme activity. We aimed to create a robust liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method to assess GALT activity in dried blood spot (DBS) samples. We validated this method and compared it to the fluorometric approach. We investigated the impact of K2EDTA and lithium heparin tubes on enzyme activity to identify the best sampl...
