Prevalence and Burden of Coconut Allergy in the United States
CONCLUSION: Roughly 1 in 260 Americans report symptoms consistent with an IgE-mediated allergy to coconut, although fewer than half of these individuals report receiving a physician diagnosis. Our data indicate that most individuals with reported coconut allergy meeting symptom-based criteria for convincingly IgE-mediated disease have comorbid food allergies, and for many patients, clinical management appears to be suboptimal.PMID:37625503 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2023.08.017

Axillary lymph node dissection versus radiotherapy in breast cancer with positive sentinel nodes after neoadjuvant therapy (ADARNAT trial)
This study will assess whether ART is non-inferior to ALND in terms of recurrence and overall survival in patients with positive SLN after NST, including whether it reduces surgery-related adverse effects.METHODS AND ANALYSES: This multicenter, randomized, open-label, phase 3 trial will enroll 1660 patients with breast cancer and positive SLNs following NST in approximately 50 Spanish centers over 3 years. Patients will be stratified by NST regimen and nodal involvement (isolated tumoral cells or micrometastasis versus macrometastasis) and randomly assigned 1:1 to ART without ALND (study arm) or ALND alone (control arm). New atherogenic index for the prediction of carotid atherosclerosis based on the non-ultrasensitive c-reactive protein/HDL ratio
CONCLUSIONS: The new PCR·100/HDL index showed the best diagnostic performance in the detection of carotid atheromatosis compared to other classic AIs in this Spanish population of asymptomatic patients.PMID:37625908 | DOI:10.1016/j.arteri.2023.07.002

Burden of unmet health-related social needs in an academic adult primary care practice in San Francisco California
CONCLUSIONS: The burden of unmet health-related social needs was considerable in this adult primary care practice. These findings can support a case for integrating health-related social need screening and social care in the delivery of primary care in the United States to advance health equity.PMID:37626286 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-023-02125-2

Classification accuracy and resistance to coaching of the Spanish version of the Inventory of Problems -29 and the Inventory of Problems - Memory: a simulation study with mTBI patients
Conclusions: The results confirm that both of the IOP measures offer a similarly valid but different perspective compared to SIMS when assessing the credibility of symptoms of mTBI. The encouraging findings indicate that both tests are a valuable addition to the symptom validity practices of forensic professionals. Additional research in multiple contexts and with diverse conditions is warranted.PMID:37615421 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2023.2249171

Pediatric Hearing Aid Management: Experiences and Perspectives of Spanish-Speaking Parents
CONCLUSIONS: This study provided insights into hearing aid management experiences and perceptions of Spanish-speaking parents. Parents described variability for audiology services, routines for hearing aid use and care, and access to other parents of children with hearing loss. Spanish-speaking parents present additional elements in the hearing care process that need to be incorporated in planning. Remote services may be an opportunity to enhance access to support that could improve effectiveness of hearing aid management.PMID:37616190 | DOI:10.1044/2023_AJA-23-00070

Morbidity and Mortality of Very-Low-Birthweight Twin Infants according to Their Sex and the Sex of the Co-Twin: A Retrospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: Among VLBW twins from 23+0 to 31+6 weeks of GA, male infants have higher risk of morbidity and mortality overall. In cases of pregnancies with different-sex foetuses, males seem to improve their results, while these do not change for females. The underlying mechanism of this influence deserves further investigation.PMID:37619541 | DOI:10.1159/000531106
