Effects of post-spawning ration restriction on reproductive development and the growth hormone/insulin-like growth factor-1 axis in female rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
Comp Biochem Physiol A Mol Integr Physiol. 2023 Aug 29:111510. doi: 10.1016/j.cbpa.2023.111510. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn iteroparous female salmonids, the growth and reproductive endocrine axes interact during the period after spawning. Energy depletion due to pre-spawn fasting, migration, and ovarian development must be restored, and the next reproductive cycle is initiated in consecutively maturing fish. In the natural environment, food availability is often limited during the post-spawn period. To investigate the growth and reproductive endocrinology of the post-spawn period, we sampled female rainbow trout over...

Novel role of fluorescent in situ hybridization technique (FISH) in recommended surgical margins of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans: A preliminary study
CONCLUSIONS: FISH analysis can have a new role in defining tumor-free margins. This would reduce the incidence of disease recurrence after resection and improve the post-operative complementary care.PMID:37652836 | DOI:10.1016/j.anplas.2023.08.006

Accumulation and dietary risks of perfluoroalkyl substances in fish and shellfish: A market-based study in Barcelona
Environ Res. 2023 Aug 29:117009. doi: 10.1016/j.envres.2023.117009. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSince the 1940s, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been widely produced and used in various applications due to their unique properties. Consequently, the principal exposure routes of PFAS have been broadly studied, leading to the conclusion that dietary exposure (more specifically, the consumption of fish and seafood) was one of their main contributors. Thus, developing an analytical method that determines the level of PFAS in fish and seafood has become a relevant subject. In this work, a previous analytical me...
