Deuterium Magnetic Resonance Imaging Using Deuterated Water-Induced 2H-Tissue Labeling Allows Monitoring Cancer Treatment at Clinical Field Strength
CONCLUSIONS: Deuterium MRI at 1.5T proved feasibility to track 2H distribution throughout mouse tissues during D2O administration and revealed a higher 2H accumulation in the tumor xenografts. This research demonstrated a promising successful method for preliminary assessment of radiotherapy and chemotherapy of cancer.PMID:37732903 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-1635

Left epigastric isolated tumor fed by the inferior phrenic artery diagnosed as ectopic hepatocellular carcinoma: A case report
CONCLUSION: This asymptomatic ectopic HCC case described achieved an excellent result due to early detection, radical resection, and systematic surveillance.PMID:37731571 | PMC:PMC10507550 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v11.i26.6231

Relationship between seminal vesicle displacement and distribution of hydrogel spacer within the perirectal space in prostate radiotherapy
In conclusion, SV cranial displacement was influenced by HS lateral distribution of ≥1.00 cm in the upper two slices. Therefore, when the sigmoid colon or small bowel is depressed in rectovesical excavation and SV needs to be included in the target volume, HS insertion should be performed carefully.PMID:37719041 | PMC:PMC10502802 | DOI:10.3892/mco.2023.2674

mpMRI-targeted biopsy of the prostate in men ≥ 75 years. 7-year report from a high-volume referral center
CONCLUSION: After evaluation of a large patient cohort, we show that age≥75 years represents a significant risk factor for the detection of clinically significant prostate cancer. Further studies on mid- and long term outcome are necessary to draw conclusions for clinical decision making in this patient cohort.PMID:37718788 | DOI:10.3233/CH-238101

Stimuli-Responsive Codelivery System Self-Assembled from < em > in Situ < /em > Dynamic Covalent Reaction of Macrocyclic Disulfides for Cancer Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Chemotherapy
ACS Appl Mater Interfaces. 2023 Sep 18. doi: 10.1021/acsami.3c10245. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSupramolecular self-assembly has gained increasing attention to construct multicomponent drug delivery systems for cancer diagnosis and therapy. Despite that these self-assembled nanosystems present surprising properties beyond that of each subcomponent, the spontaneous nature of co-self-assembly causes significant difficulties in control of the synthesis process and consequently leads to unsatisfactory influences in downstream applications. Hence, we utlized an in situ dynamic covalent reaction based on thiol-disulfide excha...

Simultaneous quantification of Gadoxetic acid and Cisplatin in hepatocellular carcinomas using laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry
Metallomics. 2023 Sep 15:mfad052. doi: 10.1093/mtomcs/mfad052. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe gadolinium-based contrast agent Gadoxetic acid and the platinum-based anti-tumor agent Cisplatin were quantitatively imaged in liver and liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma, HCC) tissue of rats by means of laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). HCC bearing rats simultaneously received a tail vein injection of the hepatocyte-specific magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent Gadoxetic acid and a transarterial injection of Cisplatin 15 min before sacrifice and liver removal. Resecting HCC with...

Individualizing Breast Cancer Risk Assessment in Clinical Practice
Surg Oncol Clin N Am. 2023 Oct;32(4):647-661. doi: 10.1016/j.soc.2023.05.013. Epub 2023 Jul 6.ABSTRACTMultiple tools exist to assess a patient's breast cancer risk. The choice of risk model depends on the patient's risk factors and how the calculation will impact care. High-risk patients-those with a lifetime breast cancer risk of ≥20%-are, for instance, eligible for supplemental screening with breast magnetic resonance imaging. Those with an elevated short-term breast cancer risk (frequently defined as a 5-year risk ≥1.66%) should be offered endocrine prophylaxis. High-risk patients should also receive guidance on mod...
