Predictive Attributes for Developing Long COVID-A Study Using Machine Learning and Real-World Data from Primary Care Physicians in Germany
Conclusions: The present exploratory study describes an initial investigation of the prediction of potential features increasing the risk of developing long COVID after COVID-19 infection by using the patient history from electronic medical records before COVID-19 infection in primary care practices in Germany using machine learning. Notably, we identified several predictive features for the development of long COVID in patient demographics and their medical histories.PMID:37240616 | PMC:PMC10219004 | DOI:10.3390/jcm12103511

Randomized trial to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of a booster (third dose) of BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccine coadministered with 20-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine in adults  ≥65 years old
CONCLUSIONS: Safety and immunogenicity of coadministered PCV20 and BNT162b2 were similar to those of PCV20 or BNT162b2 administered alone, suggesting that the 2 vaccines may be coadministered.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT04887948.PMID:37244809 | PMC:PMC10165018 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.05.002

Prevalence and difference of COVID-19 symptoms, post-COVID conditions and duration of illness among the vaccinated and unvaccinated population: a cross-sectional study in Peshawar
CONCLUSION: The study found that COVID-19 vaccination can reduce the duration and frequency of symptoms, as well as post-COVID conditions. This is the first research of its kind conducted in Peshawar, Pakistan, and may serve as a foundation for future research in this demographic.PMID:37229071 | PMC:PMC10205198 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000000606

Parsonage-Turner syndrome: A case report of a rare side effect of COVID-19 booster vaccination
Malays Fam Physician. 2023 Apr 2;18:21. doi: 10.51866/cr.184. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTThe mass vaccination against COVID-19 has saved millions of lives globally. The majority of people experience short-term mild side effects; however, in rare cases, some develop long-term severe adverse events. This case report illustrates the case of a middle-aged man with Parsonage-Turner syndrome, a rare adverse event following COVID-19 immunisation. The patient presented with pain and weakness of the right upper arm for 2 months, which developed 5 days after he received his mRNA COVID-19 booster vaccine. He sought medical attention af...

Severe superior mesenteric vein thrombosis after COVID ‐19 mRNA vaccination
Key Clinical MessageVenous thrombosis is a rare occurrence following the administration of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. The occurrence of superior mesenteric vein (SMV) is even more rare. SMV thrombosis should be considered as a differential diagnosis in patients who develop abdominal pain after COVID-19 mRNA vaccination.
